Cubs bench now empty. No pinch hitters left unless they are going to send a pitcher to hit, but they need to save their pitchers in case this keeps going because they took Hamels out of the game, the one guy who could have extended that bullpen and chewed up some innings for them.

And interference should have been called on the hug, but it would have been to the Cubs advantage and saved their last hitter for later, and they could have gotten another inning out of Hamels.

There's been several questionable calls tonight, but thus far I don't think they've had much if any impact on runs scored

Orioles and Buck Showalter have parted ways. There was some question whether the Cubs would retain Joe Maddon for the final year of his contract after last night's loss, but looks like he is coming back. Paul Molitor is out at manager of the Twins, but will get some kind of front office job with the organization. I wonder how many more managers will get the axe before all is said and done.

In other news, the commissioner's office handed down a 40 game suspension to Cubs SS Addison Russell for violating the domestic abuse policy, but the games he already missed this season will count towards the 40.

A's Yanks about to get underway.

A’s are starting to fall apart, Yankees look to have this game in hand, with unfortunately for them Sevarino went pretty deep in pitch count and likely won’t be available to pitch twice against Boston

Yep, Yankees hitting and a timely use of their best reliever right as Sevarino started to get gassed - equals win. The A's did pretty good all season and maybe I'm a bad fan but I'm looking forward to Yanks and Boston.

Rockies can't keep doing these extra inning games

Braves are clearly still in their just happy to be here mode and rookies getting playoff experience, the roster doesn't look playoff ready yet, but I was expecting that.

Disappointing news to me that the Twins fired Manager Paul Molitor a few days ago.

The Braves look to be in a spot of bother. They were shut out 6-0 by Hyun-Jin Ryu last night, and face Clayton Kershaw tonight. Going to the ATL down 0-2 should they lose again could be finito for the NL East winners.

Brewers and Dodgers each go up 2-0 in their respective series. Looks like these 2 might be short series.

Sox take the Yanks in game 1 and Astros take the Indians in game 1 of the two ALDS. We'll see what these two series look like after game 2.
