I think MANY of you hit the nail in the head. These X-Woman seem to have so much more interesting backstory an powers. They are not wasted spots I’ve noticed every time an X-Woman shows up in a Avengers storytelling my attention is immediately on them . What are they doing here? What does this person think? Does the other X-Men know etc. They completely overshadow the Avenger Women.

    Anyway, I agree with everyone.

That is 20. Without villains like Mystique or Miss Sinister or Cassandra Nova or Selene or Maddie or the others. I didnt put Kitty because I dont know what her moveset could be because of her intangibility, and Dani Moonstar is still depowered. But you could put them too.
Martial arts, phasing dodges and attacks , summon Lockheed to shot fireballs, a flame barrage, combo dive and call Colossus in her ultimate

Her ultimate should be to call her opponent a big jerk.

They feel real. Usually everything it's male dominated but in the x-men they are queens not accessories.
they are usually more interesting and relevant than almost every male. only Logan, Cyclops and Magneto are somewhat close to the girls in these aspects.

Just this. I would add two facts:

    1. There was a great amount of female characters since ANAD.
    2. They were handled as persons.

Yeah, it's that simple. Very few writers, though, apply these easy requirements. Also, when artists started to draw them as mainly sexy figures, they ruined what was solid in them.

    I'm absolutely persuaded it would.

You could test it by reading almost any issue written by CC and verifying most of them easily pass the Bechdel Test.

For someone who liked writing female characters though Chris Claremont seemed to have no attachment or interest in one character he wrote X-23 as he just cribbed off her X-Men Evolution counterpart and didn't really try to do much with her.

    I'll be honest... there's only a few X-females I find interesting...

    In no particular order:

    Storm
    Rogue
    Jubilee
    Jean
    Laura

... and only 3 of those I would probably read if they had a solo book.

Out of curiosity, are there any specific aspects of many of the X-Women that you find disinteresting? Is it a characterization thing for you, have they just never grabbed your attention, or is it something else about them that doesn't captivate you?

He wanted to retire her along with Scott.

But he didn't get to do it because Jim Shooter vetoed the idea instead letting Jean perform penance for her actions. Anyway it sounds like Claremont got a little big headed with how much power he had over the X-Men franchise. But did he want to retire Jean and Scott because of storytelling purposes or was it so that he can focus more on his own creations?

Hmm without going into depth about it, I guess you can say I'm indifferent to the rest of them. The ladies I listed I feel hold a special place in the x-lore(yes even Laura). The rest of the X-females are interchangeable spots that could be filled by anyone imo... no offense to anyone.
