Adventures of Superboy 1988

Lois & Clark 1993

Other (in case there's some version I haven't thought of)

I think it's hilarious now but, when I saw this thread title and saw Supergirl as an option, the first thing I thought of was: "If this is Helen Slater in 1984 wearing the Supergirl costume, she wins." Then I realized: "Oh, he means Tyler Hoechlin in the Supergirl television show wearing the Superman costume. Never mind." Hey, I was sleepy.

"Best" is subjective.

I personally like the George Reeves costume but materials have come a ways since then.

Christopher Reeve had the big budget classic costume which is my next favorite. I must not be paying much attention because I didn't notice that the Superboy costume was any different, at least in the first season which is the only one I've seen so far.

Next I would say the DCEU costume as worn in JL. It's nice and shiny.

Then the costume from Lois and Clark.

Then the Kirk Alyn costume although it's hard to say because the episodes of the serials are in black and white.

After that, the SUPERMAN costume from "Supergirl".

And last and least, the Superman Returns costume.

New York World's Fair Superman needed to take some advice from Disco Stu: Superman doesn't advertise.

In 1940, they actually did need to advertise. A lot of people didn't know who Superman was yet.

The way I see it, there should be these many options:

1. 1940 Worlds Fair stage costume
2. 1948 Movie Serial costume
3. 1952 Adventures of Superman tv series costume
4. 1961 Adventures of Superboy tv pilot costume
5. 1966 Its a Bird it's a plane it's Superman stage costume
6. 1975 Its a Bird it's a plane it's Superman tv movie costume
7. 1978 Superman:the movie costume
8. 1988 Superboy tv series costume
9. 1989 Superboy tv series costume
10. 1993 Lois & Clark tv series costume
11. 2000s Smallville all-black trenchcoat costume
12. 2000s Smallville red jacket costume
13. 2006 Superman Returns movie costume
14. 2013 Man of Steel costume
15. 2016 Dawn of Justice costume
16. 2016 Supergirl tv series costume (for Superman)
17. 2017 Justice League movie costume

I realize 15 options is the max, and I'm not sure if the two Superboy tv series actors had even slightly different costumes or not, but Cavill definitely wore 3 different suits, one for each of his 3 DCEU appearances.

I do realize that there is more than one variation on some of those costumes. He seems to get a new one every time another movie comes out. Even if it's in the same continuity! Some of them I didn't include, like the musical, because I never really saw them. Superboy had two variations. One for each actor. If there is a huge difference between Reeves and Allen, I can't tell what it is. Ditto the old Superboy pilot.
