I'm confused as to why there needs to be anyone to upstage Iron-Man in being Iron-Man?

Tony actually went undercover as him to spy on the Thunderbolts.

I saw that in his Marvel Wiki. But he didn't make Tony's list. I probably should have included the list or at least mentioned it to make more sense.

Because a lot of people just don't like him, and have never liked him. You won't see threads saying, "who should be a greater tactician than Captain America?" or "who should be stronger than Hulk?" but Iron Man for some reason inspires people to be downright gleeful about stomping him down.

Dug this one out of my scans at home. I forgot which comic this came from but it has to be during Armor Wars

Wow, Stark really gives Doom his props here. Not that I disagree, but I'm a little surprised Stark would admit it.

Eh, yeah you do. I know that a lot Cyclops fans think his leadership should be rated over Caps, and there are a dozen or so characters people want to be pushed as stronger than Hulk.

The op of this thread is not being malicious. It's just when your like Tony Stark. People want to see if anyone can hang with the best.

to be fair, Rogers has been pitted against Cyclops; in the strategist department. but, to me, Tony Stark is the guy to beat when it comes to armor engineering. he's come out on top in a number of armor wars.

No one. Armor is Tony's thing. Even Doom relies on armor and mystic arts.

I don't rhunk asking the question of whether or not anyone can beat Stark at his own game necessarily is an indicator of hate. I think the fact that the question is even raised inherently an acknowledgement that he's perceived as the best. No one bothers asking whether or not anyone can make better armor than Stilt man.

Not sure about other Earthly armors: Vindicator/Guardian, Stingray, Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, Hellfire Club goons, Guardsmen, etc. Tony probably has these all beat.
Tony made a Destroyer armor during Fear Itself.

Evelyn Necker eventually built a better armor (Minion) than Stark ever did.

good point. Odin personally complimented Tony's skill and let him use that forge. it should also be mentioned that the same entity that told Henry Pym that he was scientist supreme/it's "magician" also mentioned Tony.
