Kim Kardashian is even funnier than that. She built an empire because she was friends with Paris Hilton (a women who is only famous because of her parents business) and her father was one of OJ's lawyers (not even the much more famous Cochran) and she had a sex tape with a d-list rapper (whose sister was a more famous b list rapper named Brandy, and their cousin was the much more famous Snoop Dog).

It's like the perfect storm of nepotism and mediocrity converging on one another.

Brandy was a rapper? Since when?

DS1, you should check out Spartacus the TV show from Starz. I think you'll like the fairly even balance of sexualization of men and women.

Sorry R&B I'm not really a fan of Brandy, assumed she'd be the same genre as her brother and cousin.

No worries. I actually had no idea Snoop was her cousin, though.

Ray J is also an R&B singer, not a rapper.

I didn't know either. I only ever heard my sister (who watches her show) say that Ray J was Brandy's sister. I did a quick wiki search and Ray J's article said "rapper"among other things in occupation and Brandy was listed as his sister and Snoop his cousin.

I didn't struggle taking the character of Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 3 seriously, just because she wore a tube tope and a skirt. But a design like hers certainly got the whore word thrown at her, even from guys who supposedly aren't sexist and believe in gender equality.

As for porn, I don't even like it myself, but not because I'm a prude. The anti-porn people I'm talking hate it precisely because they're prudes. They're the kind who are distracted by all forms of sexuality in the media. I doubt they even hate porn because they think it's sexist towards women (a more legitimate reason to hate most porn) as I think many of these prudes are misogynistic themselves, but just because it's sexually gratuitous.

Every examples in this thread of porn stars who found success outside porn proves one of my points. Barely anyone in the mainstream crowd knows they used to be porn stars. How many are talking about Sylvester Stallone's past as a porn star nowadays? Hell, I doubt most people knew even back in the 80s.

Getting back to over-the-top sexy designs, to me, the designs themselves aren't the problem, but rather, the perception of them. Some people immediatly think of them as degrading, even if the sexy character isn't portrayed as an idiot, or abused, or anything truly negative, behaviorally speaking. That I have a problem with. Because you see, even if a female character wore practical, conservative outfits, if she's treated like crap, it won't make much of a difference, if at all. Just look at women in most of the middle east, and tell me if you think being fully covered is automathically empowering.

A lot of it for me depends on the context and the execution. If I'm watching a b-movie called, I don't know...Bikini Hot Tub Summer...if someone doesn't show up in a Bikini, then I'm going to feel ripped off. On the other hand, if I'm watching what's supposed to be a serious docu-drama about the invention of say morse code and Pam Andersen shows up as one of the scientists and she's got a halter top on, I'm going to be like "WTF?" On the other hand, if she's dressed modestly during most of the film, but is wearing a sexy nightgown during an actual love scene, then it's not going to bother me.

Taking a look at what I said and reading "thinks scantily clad women are disgusting" is a huge leap that says much more about the person reading into that than it does about me. What I do find disgusting is the notion that it's normal and right to make that level of dress the standard and expected regardless of what a given story might be, whether it's in comics, TV, movies, etc., or that it doesn't distract from the story. If you're drawn to a story because of the barely-dressed women involved then that's fine, but own the fact that they're what's drawing you and that it's not a funny little detail that's beside the point.

Um yeah similar it's obvious baloney to say guys eat at man cave restaurants for the food when it's obvious for the female servers.

Wonder Woman stories could have great quality stories but I would be shocked if people seriously bought ones with benes drawing her that basically seems playboy esque and say I'm buying it for the stories and to see Wonder Woman kick butt.

Is "Man Cave" the name of a franchise? Is it like "Hooters?"

Restaurants that are hooters or the same as hooters for when I say man cave restaurants.
One of them even trademarked breasteraunts can't recall which one which twin peaks found shocking to be put in that category.
Rather shocking twin peaks finds it shocking considering they are in the same thing as hooters and outfits are showing a lot of skin.

I call it man cave as it's mainly aimed at males with the attractive female servers in revealing outfits plus tvs for baseball, football, and other sports.
So basically it's a combo of Buffalo Wild Wings, the playboy mansion with the whole women in tight revealing outfits.

I wasn't talking about you at all in my post just making a point. I'm clueless to how you took that personal. Speaking of reading in to things...
