Who is "they" ? - These were both based on Cockrum work.

This wasn't a competition or replacement, this was Cockrum himself personally paying absolute homage, celebrating "the originals" some of which he helped define.
His way of having two teams he worked on and loved, crossover.
Not sure if you are taking his creation as some kind of affront to the originals, seems like a complete misreading, when it was an absolute homage.
