Between these two, I pick Greg Land.
Greg Land
Rob Liefeld
Between these two, I pick Greg Land.
I'm not sure. Land's work is visually more pleasing, but Liefeld puts some actual effort into his art.
Land. With Land I can at least have some fun trying to find the stock images he used.
Tough choice. Land draws some sexy people (that stupid teeth fetish is annoying) but Liefield's effort shines when it comes to action.
For actually being drawn instead of traced - and still channelling some of that anachronistic teen-rebellion energy that made the 90s so simultaneously awful yet exciting - y'know I always smell what The Rob is cookin'.
The X-Books Board is wretched and does not deserve the Domino Appreciation Thread.
Previously, I probably would have given it to Land. They're both awful, they're both known to lack effort (Land's tracing and Liefeld's creation of books only to not draw them) and they're both good for riffing material, but Land's work is generally a bit more visually appealing while Liefeld's work ended up resulting in a LOT of awful attempts at mimicking his style.
However, these days I've got to give it to Rob. Why?

He's become self-aware and I respect that.
It is a hard decision but for me Land is better!

If I had to choose? Land.
His stuff's actually pretty good even if the photo referencing is a bit much at times. As it is he only does it to a larger frequency than other artists. I mean technically most artists use reference for certain things anyway.
While Liefeld's stuff is just plain unappealing at pretty much all times. I've yet to see a recent piece of his art that doesn't look like it could be from any of his previous work, so if he's improving or changing his art I'm not seeing it. And I never really had a high opinion of his stuff.
And Liefled always came off pretty badly online. I know he's fairly friendly overall but I remember when one of is books was not selling well and he basically posted about it on his own website talking angrily that fans were the problem because they didn't like his stuff enough.
Land easily.
"We live in a world of cowards. We live in a world full of small minds who are afraid. We are ruled by those who refuse to risk anything of their own. Who guard their over bloated paucities of power with money. With false reasoning. With measured hesitance. With prideful, recalcitrant inaction. With hateful invective. With weapons. F@#K these selfish fools and their prevailing world order." Tony Stark
it's not so much that Greg Land's stuff is traced it's that it's so obviously traced. Even when I don't know what he's tracing, I can tell he's tracing something. It gives his art a fake posed feel. There's a strong almost uncanny valley feeling to the art. No matter what he's doing, it looks still and fake.
Liefeld may not be much for anatomy, but his work has an energy and style to it. It's Kirby by way of bad 80s and 90s action movies.
There's one story I've heard from multiple sources but I have no clue how true it is. One time at a con there was a discussion about Captain America and one of the people from marvel asked the audiance what the worst thing that could happen to Captain America was. Somebody yelled across the room, "Hire a hack artist to draw him with breasts!" And when people looked to see who said it, It was Rob.He's become self-aware and I respect that.
Gotta go with Rob. I'm dropping Astonishing because I don't like Lands art. Despite the bad sketchbook quality of some of Liefelds art, I would be staying on if he was the artist. Land has done some good covers, but for sequential art I just can't
Though Land is far from my favorite artist, some of his stuff actually looks pretty nice visually.
In the last, he makes for a nice cover artist.
