I think there is a lack of any real love for Thor amongst the architects. I think Aaron certainly is much more comfortable with Jane, and I don't think it was a mistake making Thor look bad in that panel, not from Aaron's point of view.

In an age where there is a goal to garner more female readership, surely nothing turns female readers off a character quite like having him tell his heroic cancer-ridden ex girlfriend that he thinks she is a petty shrew for being mad at him for sleeping around on her.
I'm with you, I see pretty much zero chance Marvel would replace Odinson completely. The success of Ragnarok alone would preclude that I think, let alone the Avengers needing continuity assuming Downey is out (which I also severely doubt).

I think they will go for a Miles/Peter, Kamala/Carol, Robbie/Johnny/Daniel, Clint/Katie, etc situation. There's really no upside to having one valuable property when you could have two instead. Especially since they appeal to different people, with some overlap of course.

Reasonably, I think if that were the case we wouldn't be getting Thor back in his own title. What I see in a lot of this book was miscalculation, not malice.
If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not

Well, I don't want to say no one at Marvel cares about Thor or his mythos, but I think there could certainly be instances where Marvel does things more out of obligation then because they're absolutely gung-ho about something.

Like, during the Alonso era we got a Jason Aaron Dr. Strange book in-time for the movie push but given the way Strange was portrayed in that book one could be forgiven for doubting the investment Marvel might have in the character.

I understand what you're saying. Having characters that are flawed and fallible is one thing; having characters that are generally un-likeable is something else.

Carol Danvers springs to mind. I am sometimes surprised she has any fans left.
