Selene Gallio and Madelyne Pryor get a hold of a version of the X-Men's very own cerebro somehow (i want to say storming the institute and owning, though not killing, most of the Gold team) and most of the world is turned into Selene's version of a perfect society: Terra Roma, a mix of ancient Rome and modern technology, with herself supplanted as the All-Mother of a new so-called Pantheon of gods entirely made up of supervillains who have agreed to rule over Terra Roma with Selene as gods - made up of Selene herself, Madelyne Pryor, Mystique, Enchantress, Morgan Le Fay, Titania, Norman Osborn, Victor Von Doom, Otto Octavius, the Kingpin, and Magneto. Though most of the world's heroes are held under the sway of the pantheon through the help of her own Cerebro Unit and their natural defenses, Jean Grey is able to shield the mind's of eleven of the earth's other heroes and together they form the Alliance - Jean herself, Storm, Magma, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, America Chavez, Spectrum, Hercules, Thor, Blue Marvel, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. As the world's only heroes they have to stop the pantheon and restore the world to the way that it was before... if the Pantheon doesn't destroy itself from within.
- There can be tie-ins in certain titles, especially dealing with members of the Alliance, but mostly the book is self contained.
- It would be a twelve to sixteen issue maxi-series that ran bi-monthly.
- A title featuring The Alliance or a version of it would spin out of the event. Basically, the Alliance would be what the Avengers originally were in that they are a group of superheroes that comes together only to protect the world from the most dangerous of threats.
- Likely causes at least some lasting change to the world at large - for a while, because everything goes back to status quo eventually.
- MASSIVELY elevates the status of Selene and Madelyne Pryor to be greater villains.
- What better way to include the X-Men than effectively make many of their characters central?
