It's Dick being inferior to Babs, Tim, and any other character the creator du jour likes better--in HIS OWN BOOK.
I really don't see Dick looking inferior in this issue.

I only picked up 8 issues of Seeley's run, and didn't jump on with Humphries (partly because solicits made it seem like a fill in arc, which it turned out to be), but I'm jumping on and adding Nightwing to my pull list today (the fact that it's monthly, which gives it more stability, less money per month, helps). I really love the dynamic between Babs and Dick - I don't feel that Babs is "better" at all - but maybe I'm just nostalgic for the Nightwing/Oracle dynamic.

Read the issue and actually liked it. Yes he is playing up the low Tech hero angle but the voice of the character and art are really good. The personality and mood of the character is a mix of all the incarnations that came before just integrated which I really like. I’m going to see where Percy is going with all of this he has me intrigued.

I liked it myself. It could be less wordy but I got a real matrix vibe from it which is cool imo. Dickbabs was good. I'm relieved that we're not going up against some hacker or A.I villain. That's the laziest tech villain/angle one can come up with. Percy has avoided that.

Art blends grit with futuristic style nicely. Blade Runner also came to mind so that's another compliment sort of.

I like the joke on being 78 years old, and it doesn't bother me so much his complaining about the tech (this a far more better characterization than Det Com 36, you know). I enjoined the Nightwing/Oracle vibe, and also the Matrix reference. Dick doesn't look inferior to Babs, also Bruce and the whole Justice League used to ask Oracle for help. Does this make her better than the whole JL?
The art was good, as for the writing... let's wait and see how it goes on, but right now it was better than expected.

Do we know that there isn't a hacker or AI villain still coming? The issue ends without a really big reveal, and the interviews seem to indicate some kind of tech villain is coming up.

I'll see this through. I'm curious how this will all play out. I did like the Dick/Babs interaction here. They had a good rapport, not dramatic relationship talks. Not a fan of the personal trainer angle. Its not bad, its just super boring.

It feels like it leaves more open space than being a cop, though. And it feels very "Dick" to me - personal attention, making things better. Though obviously his new client is evil.

This wasn’t bad. Bludhaven doesn’t look very recognizable, and this personal trainer thing sticking around wasn’t great, so those things I didn’t love. But Dick sounded good, Babs too, and the story was interesting enough to hook me. Though I’m not convinced that the art here is the best style for Nightwing or this new Bludhaven. Overall though not bad start. This could work.

Cop brought story potential and drama. Personal trainer brings nothing to the table. It’s just a seemily aimless job that was introduced in the last arc pretty much out of nowhere. I agree with drop kick here, it’s super boring. And it doesn’t seem to serve much of a purpose honestly.

It was meh. I'm not a fan of the art and I still hate the entire premise. It makes zero sense.

I quite liked it. Solid start.

As for Dick seeming intellectually inferior, I didn't get that at all. He specialises in other things. Just because he's not now one of the many Batfam hackers doesn't mean he's lesser for it. He knows how to upgrade his weaponry and has some technical knowledge and is self aware and incredibly competent. The smarts are there, they are just shown in different ways.

And hey props to Percy for writing a good Dick and Babs interaction. None of the usual theatrics writers usually tie onto them and actually added something to the story. Would like to see the dynamic a bit more under Percy's pen. If he is gonna potentially start it up again, judging from future solicits, I really hope he doesn't pull a will they won't they, either commit or don't.

    The art I really liked.

But yeah Dick's career needs a look over because no job has suited him for to long. You need a natural fit like Babs being a librarian or Matt Murdock being lawyer.

I didn't like the art, the story is ordinary and uninteresting, Babs is around, they are keeping the less daring job in the world and Dick can't use technology, I think I'm done.

The sad part is that dull read as this was, still is better than The Titans.

Dick may as well not have a day job if its just going to be personal trainer. Bartender was about ten thousand times better. Cop was better. Owner of Haley's circus was better. Museum curator was better (even if it didnt really fit the character). He was a busboy at a sandwich shop in higgins run once. I guess that was worse.

If his day job adds nothing to the character or story, just don't have one. I'd like for him to have one, don't get me wrong... but unless it brings something to the table, it just seems pointless.

I love it! Especially the art. It was full on nostalgia. They don't draw comics like this anymore.
