Keep John mask free...
Eh, to each their own. I just feel it gives him a more heroic appearance and would be more visually striking with the glowing green eyes. It was a nice treat that he wore one in the kids episode of JLU (yes I know he needed glasses). If I brought him back to Earth, I would have him wear the mask to protect his friends/family (look what happened to Tony in Iron Man 3), whereas in space he wouldn't wear it because he wouldn't need it. It's true he would look more similar to the others, but he would still be set apart from them by his different costume and distinct personality. I re-imagined his suit like this: (I didn't draw this but I traced and colored the suit over the template)20180423_204009.jpg
no Mask I think the mask looks lame and weird on the GL costume.
John always had the best costume because he didn't have the mask, way better than the other Lanterns.
The J-man
It would be nice to see John being in more than one book. I just don't see that happening and I don't want anyone to be caught off guard.
John has many fans, so he should be considered a solo. He also have multi-million dollar actors wanting to play the character. Looks like Sterling K Brown still wants to play the character. He said this from Time Magazine:
It proves that many people watched the Justice League cartoon, including celebrities. That cartoon made a huge impact. More than any other DC animated show/film.I wouldn’t mind being the Green Lantern. It would be fun. I’ve been watching cartoons since I was a kid. There was a black man portraying the Green Lantern. To see someone who looked like me meant a lot
I'm not getting my hopes up about a solo, but I do think he needs one if things are going to change. I watched one of the special features for the 2017 Justice League film on YouTube, and in it DC creators like Johns talk about the New 52 reboot. They show the covers for the #1 issues of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg, and all I could think is, "Don't try to act like you treated Cyborg as an equal to those guys-- His #1 came out YEARS after and sucked just like his time on the Justice League." Lol--so fake.
On a more positive note, I want to say that you're really good at keeping us up-to-date on the latest mentions of our boy, Sodam. Thanks for that.
IIRC, when Vixen & Hawkgirl were comparing notes on John, they both made fun of how organized & tidy he was. I think they made fun of how he organizes his socks.
It is also telling on the show that for someone so serious, he keeps rather laid back company (Hawkgirl, Vixen, and Wally).
So does John have ANY family members or friends? Like really close friends? Seems like the other lanterns are close with Hal.
Some of his relatives turned up in the 80s and 90s. They never really named them though to my knowledge.
If John gets a book I hope that it's like the better moments of Mosaic and JL where between all the punching and kicking there was some insight as to how John viewed the world. Ideally I would like a book that takes its cues from sci-fi in dealing with different cultures, societies, and how John interacts with them. I remember one short story they did about ten years ago or so where he goes to planet where there's a dispute between two groups. One of the groups was exploiting the other and trying to kick them off their land. The writer didn't have a good understanding of socialism but the fact that they had John do more than just save the day and **** off was really interesting. You don't see that very often in superhero comics.
I always try to do my best to keep up-to-date with John Stewart fans. Thanks for the kind words!
I know I'm sounding a bit repetitive, but I think Grant Morrison could pull off a mosaic-esque story more closer than most writers in the industry. What makes Mosaic so great was that it was different and a unique concept in the Green Lantern mythology.
This artist has some good John/Shayera fan comics for those who are interested: https://disneyfreak010.deviantart.com/gallery/
I've been getting back into the DC animated movies lately and was wondering how a John Stewart led Green Lantern animated movie would go. I actually trust DC's/WB's animated division unlike the live action studio, and I think they'd knock it out park. A major must-see is John absorbing the central power battery to beat the big bad in the end. But that's just me :P
