I've never actually read or had my hands on a Marvel magazine, so I'll go with a classic image, the beautiful Spidey cover posted by

I didn't vote, so I get to be tie breaker on mynown contest.
I go with whiteshark for the Boris SSoC cover.
Congrats ws!
And thanks to WPP for doing the math.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Nice job, ws! Your selection was #2 on my list. Thanks to WPP for giving my cover a nod, too.

Congratulations, whiteshark for a winning Conan cover by Boris Vallejo. You really do learn things all the time with this contest. I didn't know Vallejo did some work for Marvel back then.
Thanks to Abe, ChadH, and nx01a for voting for my cover and almost making me a winner this week!
Good job Mr. Shark, sir.
I really like all entries in this contest, and would like to thank the folks who voted for my cover of choice.

IronMaiden; Boris did quite a few early Marvel Mags. It was some of his first work. He also did foxley's cover.

Congratulations to whiteshark for a marvelous cover which was one of many this week that leads me to believ the problem wasn't with the Hyborian world, maybe it was with Conan. That dude never got along with anyone. Good thing was, clothing budgets looked to be considerably less in those days. Nice cover.
As to what the captain has learned this week, he's had a very similar reaction to what happened during the Gold key week. The variety of books under a particular theme were truly more than he originally thought. A lot happens that we miss in life. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
This post is over. Go read something else now.
I guess I only started to notice him as he became more of a entrerpreneur/artist I guess you could say. His work with wife Julie Bell in calendars and such have been showing up at book stores for a while now. In my area, there wasn't a very wide distribution of fantasy magazines...maybe because their covers weren't exactly PG rated. This was back when we were still getting comics from a Rexalls drug store.
