That was a good podcast that mentioned some of the off story beats like Faye deciding not to give Jason the envelope until the second meeting. I'm not sure I agree with a couple of interpretations like Artemis showing the prisoner mercy though. They did have a good discussion for why the Jason/Bizarro bit is heartbreaking.

I wish writers have a say, but most of them don't. If a company said x book should end, it will be cancelled.

Most don`t but a few have a je ne sais quoi about it, especially when a certain run or character is regarded well in Office and/or critically praised in terms of its quality by the audience who reads it/critics. Robinson ended Starman on his own terms. PAD ended his Hulk on his own terms. Gaiman on Sandman. Waid on Flash.

The danger in this case is outstaying your welcome. Wolfman on Titans sort of falls into that and sort of not. Loedbell might, who knows, but right now it`s a quality book with plots that are being adressed.
