Dragonball M, Chapter 2: Lighthouse! Across the Shores of Shattered Time!

Nothing.

No Eva, Ronin, or Nunlil. No enemy. There was nothing.

With an impotent growl, Sarada powered down to x3 to preserve her strength. "They aren't here," she muttered to herself. "We must have just missed them. Damn it."

She went into Eva's bedroom, hoping to find some kind of clue as to where she might have gone.

She was starting to get a sneaking suspicion that Jagam wasn't at fault. If he was there to fight Saiyans, coming to the lookout was a sure fire way to find them, but why take Eva, Ronin, and Nunlil?

"I'm starting to think we may have been wrong about Jagam being here," she reported into the comms.

Zaofan acknowledges the call. "Zaofan here. Kitchen reporting in. No sign of anyone nearby or what really happened in here. The place is kind of disheveled, but there's warm food here. Whoever made it must have disappeared or left not too long ago. Maybe within the past 15 minutes, I estimate, judging by the warmth of this food.

"But who would leave such a great tasting dish behind...?"

Zaofan acknowledges the call. "Zaofan here. Kitchen reporting in. No sign of anyone nearby or what really happened in here. The place is kind of disheveled, but there's warm food here. Whoever made it must have disappeared or left not too long ago. Maybe within the past 15 minutes, I estimate, judging by the warmth of this food.

"But who would leave such a great tasting dish behind...?"

Warm food? Undoubtedly left there by Eva and the others. As to who could cook it, if they had just missed them, then any three of them could have prepared the dish. Nunlil didn't seem the cooking type, and someone had to prepare food for Eva during her three centuries on this Lookout, so it was likely the Guardian. Or maybe Ronin. For some reason, she felt that he was a pretty good cook.

"Maybe Eva or Ronin. If it's still warm, then we just missed them. I'm looking through Eva's bedroom. I'll check in if I find anything."

As the others searched inside the buildings, Meagan takes to the air and flies below the Lookout, checking to see if there was any damage to it's structure that might give them a clue as to what happened.

A single silver butterfly is found fluttering in Eva’s bedroom.

It is one she had summoned before, so it is recognizable as hers.

Despite searching, there was no sign of anyone.

Not even the man who had done damage to the Lookout. How strange this was. From. what she had learned after all, Ishtar did not believe Jagam the type to take prisoners. For a moment the Oni wondered if the Junjo had returned, but such was unlikely. They had stamped out the faction responsible for the original theft ...

"Where are you ..."

Offering an exhale, before looking towards the heaven, the golden-eyed Oni reached out in an attempt to contact one of them via telepathy.

"Cousin. Are you there ?"

No response.

As the others searched inside the buildings, Meagan takes to the air and flies below the Lookout, checking to see if there was any damage to it's structure that might give them a clue as to what happened.

Nothing seen.

Before returning to the Plaza, Meagan takes moment to look. and listen with her enhanced hearing, out into the distance; up, down, and all around the perimeter.

"Hey guys, I found one of Eva's silver butterflies in her bedroom," she reported. "Anyone find anything else?"

Meagan’s senses catch on something, something rattling slightly. Looking closer, she sees what appears to be a bullet casing rolling slightly in the wind.

No response.

It was an underwhelming as it was concerning, really. The welcome Ishtar, and the others had been greeted with. Yet with no response from the Cousin she had been bound to, there was no reason to assume nothing bad had happened. Barring results from the others however, there was only one method left to the golden-eyed Oni when it came to tracking down those who were nowhere to be found.

Sword remaining at the ready the Oni quickly made her way through the compound, searching for any personal effects for Nunlil, Kai, or Eva, that could be used to perform her scrying spell.

Meagan’s senses catch on something, something rattling slightly. Looking closer, she sees what appears to be a bullet casing rolling slightly in the wind.

Moving in closer, she takes it in her hand. Landing on the plaza, she opens her hand and looks closer at it. As she does, she contacts the others, "I found a bullet casing, but no sign of the bullet. I'm certain that Jagam wouldn't have used an old fashioned gun, nor would have Eva, Kai or Nunlil."

Catching it in hand gives Sarada a vision.

A sudden skidding landing on the Lookout as a cloaked figure lands. Eva looking up, surprised. From under the cloak a gun appears and a single shot is heard. The blow takes Eva in the chest, knocking her aside and causing some of the scuff marks you saw on the Lookout. Kai runs out, throwing TK to hold the person in place, but is interrupted as the gun glows and shrugs off his impressive TK. Another shot, and Kai is knocked down. A moment later, Nunlil is as well.

Eva quickly summons the silver butterfly and sends it up to record what is happening, then throws her power against the man. His hood falls off and reveals Chris the Knife, Banefire in hand. Chris looks guanter than before but still dangerous and competent, and obviously much more powerful. He says something, the barrel of Banefire glows, and light erupts from it. When the light dies down, all four are gone.

The vision ends.

Remembering the cup from when they had first met, in the cafeteria of Capsule Corp HQ, Ishtar quickly grabs Eva's cup and fills as large bowl with water, hurrying out then to the open space of the Lookout floor, the golden-eyed Oni quickly sets about preparing the spell; focusing on the cup held between her fingers Ishtar then whispers in Avestan,

"Viñdât Dûrât."

Assuming Evangeline could be found, the young Guardian would appear upon the surface of the water.

Or at the very least, Ishtar hoped it so.

The spell worked, but the scrying is showcasing the outside of the Lookout.
