Question: are the Mystery Men technically part of the main Marvel 616 Universe?

Also, in Namor, the Sub-Mariner Annual #1 back in 1991, there was a story that included a "Golden Age" Red Guardian back in 1945.

IMO, approaches like The Twelve seem to fit Marvel better than do approaches like JSA.

Thanks to all posting in this thread - really informative stuff, and I'd love to see more of these characters. I'm particularly fond of the way that golden-era characters can be used in the modern age, and while would be great to either show some stories set in the past, I'd also be happy to see some of these characters used in a modern setting, or have flashbacks to the periods inbetween, e.g. interacting with Agents of Atlas, Night Raven, or Blue Marvel etc.

Sometimes it's easiest simply because ownership has lapsed; the way Fleetway (now Rebellion) has used the likes of Robot Archie (see my avatar) in Zenith pleased me greatly, and of couse this was followed up by Alan Moore's use of the character, along with others like The Steel Claw in Albion, thanks to IPC having the rights.
It's so much better when a good character is used than left to rot.
