    (Actually, there were fourteen issues since there was also an issue #0 as well as a #½ that reprinted some Golden Age stories.)
    The fact that it took just over four years is frustrating, but it's almost a minor point when compared to some other books that actually never had all their announced issues published.

    You know, this guy feels a bit like a spiritual ancestor of characters like 'Mazing Man.

    A couple more of the Golden Age feature characters who were later used in All-Winners Squad: Band of Heroes:

    * Davey Drew - appeared in four issues of Mystic Comics in 1941-1942.

    * (Doug) "Jap-Buster" Johnson -

    Feature first appeared in U.S.A. Comics #6 (December 1942).
    Last Golden Age appearance was in Kid Komics #10 (Spring 1946).

    * Dale of the F.B.I. appears to have made only one Golden Age appearance -

    in Daring Mystery Comics #3 (April 1940).
    But he still rated an entry in 2009's Marvel Mystery Handbook: 70th Anniversary Special

    * Barney Mullen - Sea Rover also appears to have made only one Golden Age appearance in a Timely Comics series -

    in Daring Mystery Comics #1 (January 1940).
    But he also earned an entry in 2009's Marvel Mystery Handbook: 70th Anniversary Special

    Also, the GCD (comics.org) seems to indicate the feature was actually material produced by "Funnies, Inc." and the Sea Rover feature was later seen in Centaur Publication's Funny Pages #40 (August 1940).

    This one was on the "http://www.internationalhero.co.uk" listing of Timely Comics characters:

    * Gary Gaunt - appears to have had one Golden Age appearance in Mystic Comics #9 (May 1942)

    But he also showed up in Marvel Adventures Super Heroes #21 in 2010.

    What's not to love about a Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde character who was probably named for the actor Cary Grant?

    I notice news reporters, sailors and law enforcement were popular characters in the golden age.
