Exactly this. Disney's not perfect by any means, but they're really much less sinister than Comcast.

No mistake, Disney would want to be a monopoly just as much as Comcast does. But Disney tends to be much fairer and equitable when it comes to absorbing smaller corporations, and they have a history of actually of heeding customer concerns.

Disney offered more perks, payouts, royalty shares, and money.

Comcast straight up offered more CASH. Fox needs a cash infusion right now BUT if they take the cash, they'll be out of monies in the long term.

The Mouse's deal keeps Fox alive and able to transition later. The Comcast deal offers Fox the ability to convert now but have no money in the future baring large profits.

With no studio or show money coming in ... Fox will die a slow death taking the Comcast deal. Unless their Sports and News idea makes WAY more money than anybody is expecting.

Comcast must still be bitter about Fox going with Disney. I think their bid is more about derailing the current deal.

John says if Comcast keeps the fox name and keeps it running as fox they get to keep x-men and fantastic four! It still counts as fox just with a new owner. Uh-oh!

As long as things are tied up until that 7 year clock runs out on the FF the MCU will get them back at least.

Wouldn't the X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie (barring it not being released) put a kibosh on the X-Men film rights going back to Disney?

The thing is that a Comcast deal would be a regulatory nightmare similar to the AT&T-Time Warner deal that's having trouble getting approval. AT&T and Comcast are both Telecom companies and that's where the bureaucratic red tape comes into play.

It would restart the clock for the X-Men but I am far more concerned about the FF.

And the Dr Doom movie that's in the works restarts the clock for FF.

LOL, keep clutching those straws buddy. That is nothing but a proposal which many thought almost certainly correctly to get $$$ out of Disney.Fox is not going to throw money away on it now that they have succeeded.

They also had the kids four movie in the works.

As the video said fox can't just ignore Comcast. They have the highest bid and if fox ignores them the government will see it as "picking favorites" and will step in. Plus Comcast is paying with all cash and Disney was not. (they had stocks and other stuff.) If Disney wants fox they have to make a higher bid now! I'm sure Disney is not happy about this at all.

Do we actually know this 100% certainly?
Not anymore! Comcast has a loophole to keep them if they keep fox as a studio!

Not sure this is a loophole instead of just how things like this normally work.

Disney is still in the catbird seat because Fox is unlikely to take the Comcast deal no matter what they offer. The reasons being that a) they already have a deal with Disney and b) a Comcast deal would almost certainly be rejected by regulators. Comcast's best bet is to try to make a deal with Disney about dividing up some of Fox's assets after the Fox/Disney deal is cleared by regulators. If course, Disney will want to keep a good portion for itself, but it might be willing to work for an even split with Comcast of Sky and Hulu and may also be willing to let Comcast have some of the Fox library and the majority stake in Boom! Studios.

I curious to what things would look like if Comcast had purchased Disney back in 2004.
