    Default Star Exodus: A Mecha RPG

    In the year 2818, Earth is dying. In search of a solution, a lifeship called the USS STAR EXODUS has been commissioned by the UNDF (United Nation’s Defense Forces) and with the help of a contingent of the alien race known as Argonians, set out to find a new homeworld. However, conflicts abound, inside and outside the ship. On the journey through deep space, encounters with the Prima Goetia, wondrous, yet monstrous beings that occupy the farthest reaches of space and plague the ship’s journey. The inside of the ship, a floating nation, has religious figures of the Argonian people clashing with the views of the Earthling military and the seedier elements populating the ship. As a UNDF Titan pilot, your mission will be to brave a path to this new world, and decide for who it should be for...

    WELCOME TO STAR EXODUS: A MECHA RPG! Think Knights of Sidonia when it comes to the titular ship in the title. Each person playing will be the pilot of a mech, classified as a T1XTN, with customization based on the player’s own ideas. You may choose a character from three factions:

    UNDF : Career soldier, member of the Earth’s premier fighting force now guarding the Star Exodus, the first Space Raft. Generally structured and responsible people when it comes to decision making in the battlefield and varying degrees of order outside of it as well. Headed by Admiral Jayson Maxus, a man respected by many for his efforts in the Unification War of 2807-2811, with General Broadus “Brutus” Larkin as your field commander, a man driven to win and stomp out all opposition. At all costs

    Order of AR : The alien faction on the ship. Having arrived on Earth two decades before the Star Expdus was crafted, the contingent of Argonians on Earth worked with the humans to craft the ship, albeit for their own purpose: to begin their pilgrimage to the holy star ISO-8 and the promised planet, Noble. Taller, age slower and stronger on average than a human (2X at least), they generally keep to themselves and at best, mix with humans only when it comes to a goal or business. A pilot from the Ordee of Ar is more than likely raised in the religion but has only information from people who lived on the home world, not any interaction with the home world. Secondhand informations nd traditions passed down out of a sense of routine. The leader is Angelo-1, one of the first to arrive on Earth and the High Priest of Ar. Is never seen without his bodyguards who are two of his numerous(biological) children. The Argonians forsook war centuries ago but still have some of the same instincts in their DNA.

    Underbelly : The criminal, seedier element. Big money backers, private contractors. Unified under one specific rumor of a leader known as “Ghost” who many suspect to be Armond Ngetutedi, the head of Revival, the leading weapons manufacturer on Earth who went along to provide for and watch his profit in action.

    The creatures you encounter, the Prima Goetia, bear resemblances to various beasts in the mythology of Earth. No human has an explanation other than maybe the trip is a journey towards Hell, as some fanatics have described, while Angelo-1 considers it as the great beasts testing those who wish to approach the motherland and if their aims are true and will is just, they will be allowed passage. That’s what he believes. That belief does not necessarily make it true. The beasts range in size, from as small as the head of a Titan mech in a swarm (Beezles) to the size of one (Flaurosso) to reportedly as large as a moon (Baalindrome, Cernunnosferatu, Ananta-7). Depending on the size, the engagement threat levels will range from low (one pilot), medium (three) to high (EVERY PILOT) and each mission will be coordinated with the admiral watching you all and General Larkin providing support from the bridge. Engagements are broadcasted across Star Exodus, as a tactic to boost morale. How questionable that is, would be a question for the general.

    Age: (Youngest for each faction is as follows: UNDF is 20, Underbelly is 19 and that’s with EXPLICIT MENTION OF FORGERIES and Order of Ar is twenty)
    Bio: Backstory of how your character was chosen as a Titan pilot and/or made it onto Star Exodus, plus their motivation
    Personality: 2-3 adjectives to describe them, and they would have to pass a psych evaluation so keep that in mind
    Skill: one skill they have unrelated to piloting

    NEMESIS TECH: The idea was the way Nemesis Tech works is that while you may want to specialize, you’ll need to balance or at least lever yourself. Tying speed to other stats because if people just dump into speed then they’ll tear themselves apart first time they thrust in battle is the idea. Like anchor stats

    If you get High in speed need to tie it to two stats, the points increase as more are added.

    Mecha: What is their Mecha’s name and what type is it, CQ (Close quarters) or LR (Long Range). Each Titan must work with one of a different type to build rapport between them and their pilots.

    EX MOVES: abilities granted by the Nemesis System, it allows the pilot to craft unique weaponry for them and their Mecha. You can make two special moves at twelve points. Once you hit 24, you can add a third. Five will be the max. A special move must last for a certain duration and be explicit in what it does.

    STAT POINTS: You will start off with 12 points, and the places you can allocate them are

    ATTACK (ATK): Includes the physical capabilities of your frame and also the power of long range frame’s projectiles.

    INT: intelligence, awareness and strategy. This stat helps improve the handed of battle plans working. Any questions feel free to ask.

    Short opinion: Why?

    Slightly longer opinion: I'd imagine that a world with known extant transhuman entities would most likely also not be dying, as the Earth of Star Exodus's 2818 is. Given some meanings of posthuman, I can't imagine any such being caring about the Earth dying outside some lingering attachment to its ancestors.

    The NPC’s, Part 1

    Name: Redana “Red” Murray

    Age: 23

    Bio: The lead technician, head mechanic and all around gadgeteer of the UNDF Titan Project. Daughter of Miguel Murray, former academic turned mad scientist and the man who kickstarted the Unification War with his FORCE series robots, 42 in total. Dangerously powerful and destructive AI’s set to rampage across the globe and only stopped by the intervention of his daughter, Jayson Maxus with his Covert Action Team (Slayton, Cash, Cray, King, Chang) storming the compound he had made in the clouds. After his imprisonment, Red became a ward of the state and then, adopted by Maxus. People wonder why she keeps her name but if you ask her she’ll say it’s to redeem the Murray family. In 2817, she proposed the Titan program and the crafting of the USS EXODUS, then received funding with Maxus’ backing, proud of his daughter. While she did not get to pick the pilots, Maxus and General Larkin assure her they’re the best if he best. She believes her father. Red is also eager to meet he pilots and see how the tech of the Titans responds to their styles and psych profiles.

    Personality: quirky, overeager mad scientist type with a dash of social awkwardness.

    Skill: gifted mechanical engineer.

    Appearance: Wild mane of red hair in a bun, yellow goggles constantly around her neck, green jumpsuit with green gloves, brown skin and green eyes. Constantly present backpack as well.

    Age: 21
    Bio: Born and raised on military bases, Micheal is the consummate professional soldier. He did well in school, but never broke a B average. He excelled athletically, always on one team or another depending on the season, but had pregnancy scares with three different girls and now doesn't date much casually. He enlisted at 18 rather than go to college, something his father, a major, opposed vehemently. Micheal volunteered for the Exodus, and pushed hard in Titan training to be the best he could.

    Skill: Piano



    Iron Will, designed for close quarters combat, a versatile chassis combined with weapons that both damage & disable the enemy at the same time.

    EX MOVES:
    Adaptive Thrusters: Iron Will features a complex array of propulsion systems, allowing it to augment movement in any direction, counter it's own momentum, and accelerate it's limbs to attack.

    EMP Claws: Focused, directional electromagnetic pulse generators built into Iron Will's claws. Triggered a picosecond after impact, they are designed to wreak havoc with internal systems in the damaged area.

    Name: Jayson Maxis
    Age:40
    Bio: Admiral Jayson Maxus was formerly Covert Action Team 7 Captain Maxus during the Unification War. Enlisting straight out of high school into the newly formed UNDF, he rose through the ranks at a lightning quick pace due to an equally quick mind and knack for strategy, along with impressive physical fortitude. A man renowned for his ability to get volatile personalities to work together, most heavily on display during the Unification War when his ragtag team of commandos manage to come together and siege the stronghold of Miguel Murray and shut down his forces/FORCES with the help of his daughter Redana. A number of accolades were given to Maxus who refuted the claims hoisted upon him but instead became curious about the young child they had found and who’s care they would be under. Through some finagling with his contacts in the government and what was formerly the Pentagon, Maxus became Redana’s legal guardian and with her help, proposed the idea of the USS STAR EXODUS to find a way to save Earth, or well at least it’s people. Known for his people skills, Maxis was chosen to be Admiral if the ship and oversee not just the military effort, but also the community efforts, making him someone who deals with the Order of Ar and the businesses on the ship, as well as the more reckless types. When he does get time alone, he can usually be found in the hangar marveling at the Titan project and wondering about his mission
    Personality: stern, levelheaded and charismatic

    STRENGTH (STR): includes durability of your frame, 0-2 means you can take two hits from a Primal Goetia if not a swarm, one of a DeiHead. Durability increases every six points and increases the strikes you can take. EX moves can be made to help your durability and give you a temporary boost. Also the strength of your attack

    AGI: reflexes in combat especially with firing. Related to how many posts you can reliably outpace/outdraw

    SPD: speed, allows you to possibly blitz and works on a similar level to strength

    As usual, I probably won't play, but you know I like to make characters.



    DANA MCKENROW

    Age: 28

    Bio: Once, he was known simply as "the Asset", a renowned assassin and political saboteur for hire. However, his last mission in a war torn country went disastrously wrong, as he assassinated the wrong man and his target escaped. This screw up led to the discovery and execution of most of the rebel faction which had hired him, leading them to believe he had been a double-agent. Unfortunately, this was not a mistake he could capitalize on, as the surviving rebels now swore a blood oath of revenge upon him, and the enemy faction he was supposed to fight would sooner see him dead than reward him for the turn of events. More over, his reputation was permanently tarnished and a bounty placed on his head.

    Dana McKenrow was a soldier-in-training who let the idea of a quick reward blind him to his own inexperience. He encountered the Asset whilst the man was in hiding. The Asset quickly dispatched his would-be killer, then decided to make the most of the opportunity. Using the last of his funds, the Asset assumed Dana's identity, taking his appearance through black-market surgeries, and the assistance of one of his last few allies, a hacker who was able to give the Asset access to Dana's personal and financial records.

    As Dana, the Asset has boarded the Exodus as one of the UNDF in an effort to escape his past and start anew. He bares no one any ill will, and simply wants a second chance. Unfortunately, it seems that several members of the criminal underclass who still know of his bounty have managed to get aboard, including some former allies. For now, he does his job and keeps his head down, but he must avoid his old associates at all costs, lest his identity be discovered.


    Personality: collected, assured, adaptable
    Skill: sharp shooting
    Appearance: tall, with greenish hair, slight stubble, and a pair of fake glasses



    SALVO
    Long Range Class - Multiple Ammunition Assault Unit

    EX MOVES:
    Death Spiral - The Multiple Ammunition Assault Unit is specialized to hold a variety of weapon types, from standard tank-mortar projectiles, plasma bolts, stun lock electro-grenades, acid grenades, missiles, hull-piercer spears, etc. When performing the Death Spiral, this unit can unleash 40% of its ammunition stores in all directions as it spins around in one massive blast. This is a very effective, but very costly move, to destroy or damage numerous enemies at once. It should only be used when the MAAU is separate from its own party, is being swarmed from all sides, or as a final suicide attack. This move places great strain on the MAAU's frame, and can loosen joints and plating or greatly worsen existing damage. Naturally, it also heavily depletes the unit of ammo. Using this move twice in one combat scene is almost surely suicidal: if this move does not eliminate or cripple all or most enemy forces, the pilot can easily be rendered a sitting duck on the battlefield.

    Light Speed Kill - Fires a special bullet of hyper-dense material using a specialized rail gun prototype, launching the projectile faster than any known weapon. This attack can be performed at extreme range, and upon impact, the hyper-bullet explodes with tremendous force. However, this prototype is considered too unstable for normal use, and thus far, only Dana has shown any aptitude for accurate firing. There is at least a 30% chance that the gun will explode upon firing the first time in a combat scene; this increases by 30% with each subsequent shot*. A two-hour maintenance and cool down cycle is required to maintain minimal chance of failure. As such, it is an attack to be used rarely, if at all. The specialized bullet is also costly to replace. Dana has access to only six bullets in total, until more can be acquired.

    *Roll 1d10 to determine success. For the first shot, a roll of 4 or greater is needed. For the second, a roll of 7 or greater. Third shot must roll a 10. Any more shots guarantee destruction of the gun, and the removal of this ability until a replacement can be manufactured.

    STAT POINTS: You will start off with 12 points, and the places you can allocate them are

    STR: 2

    AGI: 6

    SPD: 2

    INT: 2


    Adjusted for Two Stat System if maintained:
