"Yas qween" was said ironically, but seriously why get worked up by this line. I've said it once or twice in my life, I guess I'm nothing more than stereotype which is what you reduced Grace's Iceman to.
"Celebration of masculinity" was apparently said seriously.
I don't think Grace's Iceman was perfect. I loved the first arc and the last arc, and specifically the last issue was stellar. I hated Judah, moving to L.A, and the Champions arc. I don't think it's above critique, but I'd rather read that than Iceman hanging with some bros.
I get thinking Iceman was a stereotype if you only read one panel in 11 issues.
But there was depth in the series you are not giving it credit for.
"Iceman and the Boyos" is the next arc of Gold / X-men themed gay porn.
Exactly. The powers thing was ridiculously underused and has been for years. He's still not on the level (consistently) as when Emma was in his body and that's embarrassing. Xmen Forever actually did something with his powers. Grace's run was pretty much "gay iceman" and that's it. Everything else was given a couple panels.
I guess that makes a sizable number of us in here stereotypes then. Like I could believe this line of criticism if he was sashaying around talking about his favorite pop queens and belting showtunes. But the level at which you're setting what constitutes stereotypical behavior is ridiculous IMO. The reality of it is that a LOT of gay or bi guys do talk and act that way, and for someone who's been in the closet for years like Bobby, experimenting with some of that and seeing if it suits him is something that has a lot of truth in real life. He said that line once while referencing that it would be a special occasion to say it, and you guys are acting like that defined his entire personality for the whole run.
I really liked the Callisto/Kitty convo. It was a nice nod to the past and felt really in character.
The Claremont bit was nice too. The middle was not good, everyone sounded out of character.
When Meggan mistakenly said, "Kenny Logs" instead of Kenny Rogers, was Meggan referring to Kenny Loggins?
