Default DC is doing a Alfred Pennyworth TV series

    Yeah, you read that right

Seriously, what is it with DC and all their prequels?

If it's going to be Sean Pertwee's Alfred then I could see this working. It sounds like it will be a younger version of the character played by a different actor.

I'm assuming it will be set in the Gotham continuity because it's by the same creators, but I could be wrong.

Probably so no one will compare the TV versions to the film versions. I'm surprised we have a Flash series.

Allegedly not in the same continuity.

Now THAT I would watch if it was in the style of the 1960s Batman.

I would watch the Alfred show but I'm not going to buy access to some obscure net site. Put it on Netflix or forget it.

I just realized Gotham has been canceled. Mixed feelings. It was ridiculous in many ways but I've watched enough to want to have seen it pan out without being rushed. But I wish DC would just do a Batman show and a Superman show instead of these shows about the grandfathers, childhoods and supporting characters.
    Power with Girl is better.

Blame WB's idiotic belief that people will confuse the live action TV and movie versions. The Flash seems to be an exception.

EPIX isn't a net site. It's a premium cable channel similar to HBO, Starz, etc....It's better than Starz but not as good as HBO. EPIX isn't very well-known because it's one of the newest premium channels. I had it a few years ago because they would broadcast Bellator (MMA event) commercial-free, and I think with more content. Their movie selection wasn't bad.

I hope that they can do thoroughly original storylines. No need to have proto-Joker and the other rogues-- which would really stretch credibility considering Bruce isn't even born yet.

Why would a strong character like Alfred end up as a butler? Some British class thing?

Maybe something Thomas Wayne did for him made Alfred feel obligated to work for Thomas. Perhaps bodyguard/butler.

It gives a pretty good explanation for why Alfred took the butler job. He was weary of the military and wanted a fresh start after his long term girlfriend was killed by someone coming after him. He was close friends with Thomas and fond of little Bruce and his duties discretely included bodyguard.
