Ceratinly. Lets all wish America into the cornfield and replace it wit a more humanitarian state like Iran or Cuba.

Yeah Germany got totally fucked after WWI. Hitler was the guy who turned that around and made Germany feel empowered again after going through an economic crisis that makes 2008/2009 look like a hiccup. They were more than willing to turn their heads at his crazier and questionable rhetoric and later actions because as long as it didn’t effect them, it was better than what they were dealing with. It wasn’t right, but it’s not hard to see the mindset when you read up on how bad Germany was at the timeZ

Trump is mostly a power fantasy for a segment of the country who feels like they are becoming irrelevant. This is there big difference. Trump is the natural extension of the Tea Party being allowed unchecked and lip service politics on the Republican. Eventually the monster couldn’t be tamed.

With all do respect its pretty clear from reading this thread that most posters are Americans.

I dont think the world would be a better place, but I dont think it would be a especially worse place either.

Your very diplomatic about it, bet we're (USA) potentially a dangerous state with a Jekyll/Hyde personality. We're kind, giving & like to have fun, but in a split second we'll flip on you like a paranoid rhino reaching for a pool cue while being completely sober.

We like football and porno & books about war.

You can bet that anyone who says yes to this question would never leave the United States for any reason.

Just like all those celebrities who threatened to leave the country if Trump won the election. Not one of them did, or even thought about it.

There was actually great debate at the time about using the Atomic bomb but, frankly, the atrocities of the Japanese Imperial government of that time made even the Nazis look like school kids. Most people I've known who lived in this times have said they had to be stopped by any means necessary and they knew, even at the time, that the number of deaths from the bombs would be equaled or surpassed by the war going on for even two more months. It's easy for us to sit in our armchairs and be smugly idealistic and self-righteous about it but they had to make a choice of what was the lesser of two evils and they made it.

And despite Trump and our problems, the current alternatives would be far worse if the U.S. wasn't here.

Without an independent USA i wonder what would had happened to the Spanish Colonies, sure there was the independece of Haiti that inspire Simon Bolivar to liberate the north part of South America, there is also Cuba, Puerto Rico and the Phillipines, without the US Spain could had mantained power there longer.

Wow. I'm crushed. I was hoping you'd move here and improve the place.
