I should add Raney to my list too. His art on the X-Books definitely brings me back

Bachalo's Death/early Generation X work is hyper-detailed brilliance. His later work is too cartoony combined with his obsession with putting women in miniskirts with metal studs or in outfits with necklines plunging so far past their bellybuttons that Dagger would blush. And what's that stuff that's always flying around whenever he draws fights? Ash? Snow? Mud? It's everywhere, and it's messy.

It is hard to say who my favorites are. It would be easier to list the ones I do not like, but I don't want to be negative.

My top fav will always be Frank Quitely on New X-men. When I think of Jean Grey I often think of his version (see the last issue of the Imperial storyline for reference, or the silent issue). I also have a soft spot for the 90's guys because I started reading X-men in the early 90s as a ten year old kid (Lee, Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Joe Mad, etc). Neal Adams, Cockrum, and Byrne were great X-men artists.

I like so many. I mean I was the guy who defended Igor Kordey constantly on these very boards when he was doing art on New X-men and later X-treme X-men.

What about Bolton's art? I thought he might one of your favorites from Classic X-Men.
Bolton is definitely on the list, but I decided to be more random. I was posting so much Bolton lately I decided to let some other artists get some show, lol.

    Arthur Adams

John Byrne - though his Kurt isn't my favorite, I think he started the trend of making him small and monkeyish. He also stood straight up less and many other artists followed suit. Everything else is all good, though.

Oh, in regards to Silvestri, I really don't care for his Image stuff. I feel like he really went too Extreme 90s and he doubled up on everything - bigger isn't always better. Lee didn't start making everyone look like huge bricks til a bit later even after Silvestri who I never really saw as an Exreme artist until Image, ironically.

As usual, I pretty much agree with From the Shadows. Just Jim Lee's good older stuff is more of this kind for me:

Remember when he knew how to draw nice? *sigh*

Jubilee... when her character was in its infancy. Jim Lees art brung her to life. I think Alpha Flight was his first Marvel gig, not a trace of the "hot look" at all.

Chris Bachalo. His earliest work may stun people.

Joe Maderureira - He started out on an Excalibur 2 parter Ex/X reunion after the X-Men were revealed to be alive.

    Agreed.

    His modern stuff sucks comparatively.
