You're right. Unfortunately Scott and Maddie's relationship was abruptly stopped when Jean came back to life...

Juan Jose Ryp. This was from Wolverine: The Best There Is.

    More of his art.

His artwork is very detailed and he excels at action sequences; however, he usually is hired to draw graphic material in comics.

Nearly all of my favorite X-Men artists are seemingly hated by a major percentage of fans. I prefer signature styles that are more eccentric and exaggerated.

    Skottie Young

    Chris Bachalo

    Humberto Ramos

    Joe Mad

    Paco Medina

He's like something in between Phil Jimenez and William Tucci, don't you think?

I feel you guy!! I am in the same boat somewhat. I think you are the only other person to put Young on their list...lol. You must have really been a fan of Cliffhanger?!

    Silvestri
    Pacheco
    Adam Kubert
    Smith
    JRJR
    Davis
    Immonen

Not necessarily in that order, but Silvestri is my X-King.

    In no particular order...

    Opena
    Byrne
    Immonen
    Sienkiewicz
    Leonardi
    Smith
    Pichelli (Pixie special)
Davis (mostly for Excalibur -- his Rachel has not been matched since)
Adams (early Special Editions and Annuals)

I'd really like to throw Bachalo on there but I liked him better at Vertigo.
Same goes for Ramos -- liked him better on DV8.

Honorable mentions to Noto, Guice, Windsor-Smith, Giandomenico, and Coipel.

Would have liked to see more from Kevin Nowlan on the New Mutants and from Joshua Middleton on NYX but such is life -- bring back Kiden and Middleton and put them on a "teen" mutant book and you'd have an X-Title that I would collect until the end.

Good God YESSS on the Middleton! I think he works on Avatar Korra now though.

Did not know that -- that is almost perfect for him.

EDIT: And how could I forget the man who single-handedly made me want to start drawing comics again...

    John Byrne
    Alan Davis
    Stuart Immonen

Olivier Coipel and Frazier Irving have contributed a few issues here and there, and if either of them had contributed enough for me to consider them "an X-Man artist" they would make my list, but they haven't really, so in my book they don't qualify. Wish either one would do an extended run on an X-book.

The three who are on my list have turned in stellar, title defining work during their runs.

Heck yeah to the Charest! Middleton does work perfectly on Avatar Korra. I think he started being the art director on the second season. You can kinda tell the show has his inspiration without looking very hard.

    Definitely.

It's interesting that so many of these top artists wind up leaving Marvel (or only working for them in a limited fashion). I wonder if its more about the money or the lack of creative freedom -- you'd think drawing an X-Title would be a dream job, but you don't see runs like those of John Byrne or Alan Davis in the newer/younger artists anymore.

Immonen had a good run on All-New... or maybe it just seems that way due to nostalgia. Hard to say for sure.
