It started a great deal of fan favorite characters such as John Stewert and Donna Troy. The Darkstar concept is also still very much in the spotlight, as they have played a mammoth role in the closing issues of Robert Vendetti's Green Lantern run, and a variation of them seems to be serving as a central antagonist for Grant Morrison's Green Lantern series. However I never hear the Darkstars title being talked about quite often.

I actually really enjoyed this series.
I got roped in by the crossover with the GL title.
I always liked John Stewart, really enjoyed his portrayal so went back & bought the back issues. (Then followed it through to the end)
It also gave DC another avenue to use ex GL characters who weren't appearing anymore. It made the DCU feel more cohesive.
In short, it's worth a read!

I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

It had some good moments but to me was kind of an up and down series. Some really good stuff with some pretty "meh" stuff. I did really like the Darkstars/Green Lantern/L.E.G.I.O.N. crossover Trinity though. It was an 8 issue event (Trinity 1-2, Green Lantern 44-45, LEGION 57-58, Darkstars 11-12) that brought together the 3 BIG cosmic properties at the time.

To me probably the other best story was actually the end of the Darkstars in the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern series (Green Lantern 68-75). Darkseids other son Grayven has been hunting Darkstars to prove himself worthy to his father.
