I see it is run by the National Park Service, not the DoD. So either Congress will have to allocate money for this, or they will do it with donations, like the WWII Memorial. it was originally built through private donations, including a big one from Elvis. So it looks like that is where the new money will come from.
Either way, sounds like a complete rebuild is needed.
The only figure I could find for the original cost was around $500,000 in 1950, so that is around $5 million today.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Somehow, a world without living members of the World War II generation causes me to shudder.

Well said Hoy. As the holiday is coming up, remember what these brave individuals endured and did.

Thankfully, someone is making sure that the WWII generation's memories and voices aren't forgotten. A college student has been going across the country interviewing and recording WWII vets and making sure their stories are preserved. Check it out:

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

I'm still wondering what in the world might have made you think it was the right thread in the first place . . .
