Also, not a huge fan of the Kevin Fiege wank. I know MCU fans have selective amnesia over the franchise, but Fiege has had similar conflicts with creative talent. Edgar Wright left Ant-Man, Patty Jenkins left Thor 2, and Mickey Rourke has publicly denounced the company for chopping up his scenes.

All of the MCU problems with actors and directors were the fault of Ike Ike Perlmutter. Fiege himself couldn't stand the guy and broke off Marvel Studios away from Marvel Entertainment and reports straight to Disney. There hasn't been any reported issues since the break.

The second MCU film, the Incredible Hulk, flopped or at a bare minimum broke even. Studios, unless they are in dire circumstances, don't treat flops as seriously as commenters do. The MCU simply changed course, dropping Hulk films all together. There is no reason to assume Kennedy cannot do the same.

We don't have anymore Hulk movies because Universal still retains the distribution rights for solo Hulk films.

Honestly, I don't know Kathleen Kennedy from anyone else, and how much of this is her fault is anyone's guess.

But I base my opinions solely on the finished product, and I know I loathed The Last Jedi. It was like spending two hours watching someone take a steaming pile of crap over one of my favorite toys.

So yes, I am right there with many dissatisfied fans. Its very insulting to be lumped in with a vocal, but very tiny, minority of actual sexist people. And that is what the response has been from Lucasfilm to ALL the criticism. To trash any dissatisfied fan as some sexist, loser incel or whatever.

So I decided to vote with my wallet and move on with my life. And judging from the numbers from Solo's sales and TLJ blurays, I'm not the only one.

Its not a tiny minority. There are a crap ton of them. It doesn't mean there also aren't a lot of well-meaning, intelligently critical people like yourself. And those indeed shouldn't be lumped in with the other crowd. But, sadly, its not a small crowd, from what I've seen.

How much is a crap ton? 1000? 2000? More? How does that compare to the millions of fans Star Wars has? I've read and watched a lot of criticism, and the stuff I've seen that I would qualify as toxic is a drop in the bucket compared to amount of people who are just voicing displeasure.

Come on, let's not act like we don't know the concept of a turn of phrase. Obviously I have no solid number and never claimed I did. But its enough of a problem that the girl who played Rose had to shut down a social media account because of racist comments. You don't have to do that when its just a couple people. You have to do that when its a flood that you can't manually block with ease.

Its a pretty significant trend. And acknowledging such isn't automatically lumping in those who dislike the film for valid, intelligent reasons. This isn't meant to be part of the pissing contest of whether there are more people who liked the film or more people who disliked the film.

I don't think the failure of Solo will force an change in the current course. If Episode 9 flops then the mouse will make heads roll.

Well, in any event, Disney did make a PR statement that they would be examining what went wrong to learn from it.

Official statement has been that fan bellyaching will not change Episode 9. Whether that's true remains to be seen (although I suspect the bellyachers will take credit for any changes that swing things to their favor, irregardless of whether they were heard or not).

Other games did abuse it. Battlefront II definitely was game to break the camel's back. EA tried to exploit fans love for the franchise to turn it into a casino.
