Default Favorite horror stories in DC history

As I said in the sci-fi post, I was inspired by caj's mystery post to branch out to some other genres.

What are your favorite horror stories in DC history?

That issue from "Sandman" with the Corinthian immediately came to my mind.

Thanks Air Wave for referencing my post and I like your idea for this thread.

j9ac9k, I completely agree with you. The whole 'The Doll's House' kind of creeped me out. I remember Lucien talking about the dream vortex and he looks up at the reader and points. For some reason, that seemed very eerie to me. But the Corinthian was creepy in a class all by himself. Brrrr

The "Rotworld" event with Swamp Thing and Animal Man from the New 52 was pretty cool.
When you crush an ant beneath your foot, do feel remorse? No. Is this because you are evil or because you recognize yourself as a higher form of life? This is what the Wizard could not understand. If I have the powers of the gods, then am I not a god myself? Should I not be treated as such?

Apart from Sandman as a whole, my first thought is Teen Titans Annual #1

You can go as far back as the House of Mystery omnibus: https://www.amazon.com/House-Mystery...use+of+mystery

Some have already suggested Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run. I would read it all since it is full of good horror stories.

For me, the most hardcore stories are from Jamie Delano's and Garth Ennis' Hellblazer runs. They are both excellent and have some really sickening things. I am currently reading through Paul Jenkins' run right now, which is also very good, but not as good as Delano's or Ennis' work.

Yet another vote for Moore's ST, but the story that stuck with me was 'The Curse'.

Ooh, this made me think of the Dr. Destiny issue of Sandman. I think it was called 24 Hours? Haunting stuff.

I'm not sure it counts but Batman The Cult to me is a horror story. The failing of Batman, an evil cult, dead bodies hanging everywhere it just has a sense brutal dark sense of hopelessness.
