Default Preview: The Immortal Hulk #1

Full preview is now up: http://www.adventuresinpoortaste.com...mortal-hulk-1/

With the slogan, "Horror has a name" I think they're going all in with the horror vibes.

The pencils, colouring and inking are very effective at communicating the horror atmosphere that they're going for. Glad to see Ewing get paired with good art talent, and hopefully this can be his breakthrough comic. Strange to see him only writing one book though, after he's been juggling 2 or 3 books at a time for the past few years.

It's not too difficult to predict what's going to happen next, but the staging and ambience is handled well.

Exactly. I'm going to have to pick this up.

Who guard their over bloated paucities of power with money. With false reasoning. With measured hesitance. With prideful, recalcitrant inaction. With hateful invective. With weapons. F@#K these selfish fools and their prevailing world order." Tony Stark

Is this Ewing's first foray into horror? I've mostly read his cosmic stuff.

This reminds me of Bruce Jones run except the panel layout is not very dynamic. If there is more Banner than Hulk I will lose interest to be honest.

For Marvel it is, as most of his Marvel work is either cosmic or Avengers. I don't know if he's done any 2000AD stuff in the horror genre though.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if something else is announced in the Sept or Oct solicits. Kelly Thompson also only has one known Marvel book (West Coast Avengers, though she's also on Nancy Drew for another publisher) and she's admitted she has three more Marvel titles waiting to be announced. Al might have one or two more as well.

When Ewing first started dropping hints about this series he said most people don't realise he started out in the comics industry as a horror writer and he's excited about the opportunity to bring that to his Marvel work.

Aha. Interesting, thanks for the factoid. Now I need to dig up some of his early work.
