It is imo not like that Deathstroke (the series not the Character) did much for the Defiance Kids. (And I still have not really figured out what Slade wanted with this team in the first place.)

So, the kids were: Joseph, Rose, Terra, Tanya, and Wally. I would agree that it didn't do much for Wally, since he already shows up in Flash and Teen Titans. But all of the others weren't appearing anywhere else. For Joseph, it finally resolved the sin he committed in nearly killing Isherwood. For Rose, it was another development in the saga of "Slade screws with Rose's head" - this time, much more literally (and that one I think needs a lot more development). Terra didn't even exist in Rebirth before Defiance, so it brought her back, gave her backstory with a Rebirth spin, established history and relationships with Deathstroke, Rose, and a status quo with her bodyguard business. And Tayna, sadly, it put on a bus, though in a way where she can return much more heroically than sitting in her lab.

Slade wanted to be closer to his son and daughter, and he wanted to make Tanya happy. For Wally, he gave a place to go after he screwed him over with the Teen Titans. And Terra was Addy's pick, there to mess with Slade. So ultimately, Slade wanted what he always wants: to try to be a father to his kids, and to make them happy. But since he's Slade, he screws it up royally.

I just had a long conversation with someone who hated that. I'm kinda on the fence. I like it when Damian awkwardly does things, showing that his upbrining was screwed up - like in his appearances in Steph's Batgirl series.

when will this be released in a TPB? Also it should be adapted into an animated special for DVD.

TPB is likely in November or December, since the last issue is in September.

And I totally agree that it should be a direct to DVD film.
