We need better comics
Damn, I'm really excited about this one, but theater is so damn expensive, I don't think I can afford to watch both this one and Aquaman. And while I really want to see Spider-verse, I can't miss out on Aquaman.

For anyone that needs to know why OMD is awful please search the internet for Linkara' s video's specifically his One more day review or his One more day Analysis.
The older Peter narrates his life up to this point (major spoilers)
Everything we see or read about this movie is simply amazing. They seem to have done a tremendous job making all those characters alive and interesting. I hope this iteration of Peter ends up in a good place. anyway, although is life looks like a big mess, he still has the hero stuff inside him, which is so true to the character.
Well, I'm certainly not seeing the movie (I will not support anything that spoilers:end of spoilers) but I do agree this film appears to be quite fearless in challenging it's audience.
promotes divorce, especially between Peter and MJ. That would never happen
Yeah we all know that will never happen. It would be like the comics

He would make a deal with a demon to get rid of her! That's what the REAL Spider-Man would do! This movie is not faithful to the comics! Blast it sony!
Joking but yeah comics did it worse.
Just because a film features characters in a certain situation, it doesn't mean that it is "promoting" that situation, just acknowledging the reality that people do experience that situation. In this case, quite commonly. To avoid it is to avoid reality. Not every action or decision a character takes in a movie is meant to be an endorsement of it.
Comic books movies are an escape from reality, and just because other people do it doesn't mean Spider-Man, a flagship hero who is all about responsibility, should do it.

The reason we got One More Day in the first place was to AVOID promoting this as an option.

At least OMD ended with MJ telling Peter that their love would ultimately overcome everything Mephisto's spell did to them and that they would be together again
Whether he should do it or not is debatable, obviously. My preference would be that he not, at least not in the comics where that would remain a permanent aspect of his continuity, but I'm sure a story could deal with that and be compelling - especially in a movie where it's self-contained and there isn't a worry about baggage being carried forward.
But the reality is that divorce isn't just about shirking responsibility. Sometimes relationships don't work out - for many reasons - and the responsible, adult decision is to part ways, hopefully amicably.
I don't think either kids or adults need to be so sheltered that divorce, something that many households experience (and not always with lasting trauma attached to it), is something that they need to be protected from.
I have a hard time understanding how this is about responsibility.
Escapism doesn't mean avoiding every single real life issue ever, imo. using this real life situation will make this version of Peter relatable to a lot of people, and Pete has always been kinda average Joe in a lot of regards.
