It hasn't. O'Neil put him through a major change leading to his change in attitude and desire to "question". The conspiracy theorist is also an example of questioning, although in that case, it's more of a downright doubting cynicism. Just the name suggests a desire to find the truth whether it'd through an objectivist attitude, a newfound liberalism, or a belief that all isn't what we've been told. IMHO, a well written Vic Sage would encompass all of these qualities but be someone who wants to find the answer.
