    Amazing Spider-Man #83 Apr 1970
    "The Schemer!"
A new criminal known as the Schemer has risen in the ranks of organized crime
and seeks to eliminate his primary competition for control of the underworld: The Kingpin.
When the Schemer's men attack one of the Kingpin's trucks, Peter Parker is in the area
and stops the violence as Spider-Man taking much needed pictures before departing when the police arrive.
Meanwhile, at the home of the Kingpin, his wife Vanessa shows him
a newspaper article about how their son, Richard, had gone missing in the Swiss Alps.
The idea that their son committed suicide because of his father's connection to organized crime angers the Kingpin

Meanwhile, Peter tries to sell his pictures to the Bugle, and is met with minimal success selling them.
With money as tight as it is, he goes to see Aunt May's doctor to insure him that he's good for the bill, albeit eventually.
Dr. Bromwell alleviates some of the stress on Peter when he tells him that Aunt May's health insurance will cover most of her medical costs.

As the Schemer gains a new ally in one of the Kingpin's men who has defected to the Schemer's organization,
Peter and his friends bid farewell to Flash Thompson who is going back to Vietnam.
Later as Peter and Gwen are strolling through the streets, Peter is about to confide in Gwen that he's really Spider-Man.
At that moment, the Schemer's men attack another one of the Kingpin's trucks.
When it's jackknifed off the road, it pins Peter and Gwen under it.
Gwen is knocked out and Peter uses his spider-strength to get them out of anymore harms way.

After tagging the Schemer's getaway vehicle with a spider-tracer, Peter accompanies Gwen to the hospital.
When Gwen is in stable condition, Peter goes into action as Spider-Man
and uses his spider-tracer to track down the Schemer's lair.
There Spider-Man fights off the Schemer's men.
However, when he gets to the Schemer himself,

the crook traps Spider-Man in a pressing device.

Spider-Man manages to break free, while the Schemer manages to escape.

With no leads to go on, Spider-Man changes back into Peter Parker and goes back to Gwen in the hospital.
Gwen has just come out of her coma and is upset that Peter wasn't there by her side.
She asks her father to escort Peter away.
As they are leaving, George tries to console Peter telling him that Gwen will be in a better mood the next day.
Before leaving, Peter almost lets slip to George that he's really Spider-Man, before catching himself and quickly departing.

I recognize that panel. She was attending the Stilt Man's funeral as his widow. So I assume they might have had a child.

She also had a sexual relationship with Ringmaster at one point.

She was also married to the Gibbon. Lady gets around.

There's also the only lesbian super-villain couple, Letha and Lascivious:

Anaconda and Puff Adder had a thing in the late 80's and early 90's.

she's also quite close to that snake. but i don't want to assume anything. are Letha and Lascivious an official couple? the grapplers definitely share romantic partners. but i thought that they were just friends in the laverne & shirley way.

She was also involved with Johnny Blaze, strangely enough.

I knew (but forgot) about Gibbon, but I never knew about Johnny Blaze. Wow, she really does get around for such a low-level villain! Of course, she's been around since the 60s, so that helps.

I am unaware of them ever being shown as a couple. We've seen them both interested in men before; sometimes separately, sometimes together. We've actually seen the two of them compete over a man before (Chase Stein, surprisingly enough). I could see them being close enough to have threesomes with a man they both like, but I haven't seen any indication they were a couple.

Marvel does have one lesbian super villain couple I am aware of though: Leather and Lace!

She and Rock Python also dated for a while, apparently, around a the same time.

The Serpent Society was a hot bed of super villain sexual hook ups. Anaconda/Puff Adder. Anaconda/Rock Python. Diamondback/Rattler. Black Mamba/Sidewinder. King Cobra/Coachwhip. Probably some others I am forgetting at the moment.

iirc, they made Mystique and Destiny an official couple (married). and, while arguably not a relationship, Superia did have a harem as one of AIM's ministers. eh, ignore that last one. i don't want to assume that they went any further than doing her hair and nails.

I always took them as being lovers as Lascivious seemed very distraught when she thought Letha was dead/dying.

They're definitely into men, too, though. Especially Letha, who has shown interest in men on several occasions.

Anaconda only flirted with Rock Python in this one panel. I always took it as an artist error (and really, why was Anaconda drawn so demure?):

Rattler also gets the ladies. I remember Diamondback suggesting Fer-de-Lance get with Rattler because of his vibrating tail.

I can't believe I forgot Mystique & Destiny! The premiere lesbian super-villain couple!

Wow, I can't believe I forgot about Destiny and Mystique. Huge mental laspe there; thanks.

As for Superia, I don't think a romantic relationship was confirmed between them, but I do wonder about her sidekick Bright Star from the CAPTAIN AMERICA CORPS miniseries. I also have wondered if she and Victoria Hand had an off-panel relationship at all when both were with HAMMER. She certainly seemed to take it personally when she thought Hand had set her up.

Its possible there is a romantic subtext there...or it could just be a very close friendship, especially given that at that point the two of them only really had each other since they'd just been brought back from the dead by The Hood, so they were years out of contact with any of their old friends or teammates.

No need for it to be artist error - Anaconda could have had a fling with another teammate; she and Puff could have split up, etc.

Yep, and Rachel indicated her recommendation was based on personal experience.

speaking of the serpent society that reminds me of a stray panel from secret avengers. Thunderball (of the Wrecking Crew) and Coachwhip seemed to be getting intimate in an alleyway. maybe i'm thinking too small. with the existence of Bagallia (where nothing is off limits), all of these villains might be hooking up without any strings being attached.

^look at Wrecker. his head is slightly turned to the left. i wonder if he had dibs on Coachwhip (or T-ball, you never know). no idea what is going on with Tigershark and Ox. it doesn't look consensual.

in general, i want to see more of villains in their downtime. they are more interesting than the heroes sometimes. it's easy to forget that they have personalities and lives outside of costume. that's why i liked the relationship between Parker Robbins and Giuletta Nefaria.

the stuff with Brightstar reminded me of her mentor relation with Free Spirit. i wanted more from the Hand/Superia relationship. but that was an extremely rushed storyline. figures that she was just playing her.

i think it might have been the coming back from the dead that brought them closer. but, anyways, i wonder if they maybe had a falling out. Letha was later depicted hanging around with Poundcakes. and that led to the two of them "reforming" and working for Janet Van Dyne. no mention of Lascivious.
