Default Amazing Spider-Man #800 the best-selling comic book of May 2018

Amazing Spider-Man #800 was the best-selling comic book of May 2018. And at a cover price of ten dollars, it had no real competition as the #1 comic book in terms of dollars invoiced.

The new Venom #1 was in second place.

The rest of the top ten...
    3) DOOMSDAY CLOCK #5
    4) AVENGERS #1
    5) BLACK PANTHER #1
    6) BATMAN #47
    7) BATMAN #46
    8) JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE #1
    9) THE MAN OF STEEL #1[*]
    10) THE WALKING DEAD #179 (MR)

I'm particularly impressed that the Venom #1 beat out the Avengers.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

While being number 9 isn't a bad placement, and it's still a top ten book, people's concerns about Bendis did some damage to the Man of Steel hype. Superman only appeared in two pages of Doomsday Clock, yet it beat MOS.

Still, congrats to all involved in issue 800, it was a herculean effort and this is a worthy pay-off to the tireless promotion. Good to see Venom off on the right foot too.

I've noticed that the press releases with Man of Steel have an asterisk so I don't want to say anything critical of sales before I find out what the asterisk means, just in case it's relevant to the reported figures. It could be an indication the book might otherwise be rated higher.
    Sincerely,

It would have been hard to imagine ASM #800 not placing at #1 considering the hype, build-up of what was a well-received story arc in GDS and of course Slott's penultimate issue. It may turn out to be one of the best-selling issues of the year when all is said and done.

I’m so glad that Doomsday Clock got beat by two books!

Wouldn't Bendis being attached to a comic actually be to its benefit?

For clarification, when we say ASM was the best seller, we're measuring it by the reported (or estimated) number of issues sold, not the total revenue -- e.g. X = $10 X (X number of issues sold)?

    Both.

    Also...

ASM #800 was the top reordered book for the last two reorders cycles, which means that it's been selling out enough somewhere in large enough quantities that many retailers have had to reorder it. A lot.
(But it is ASM #800. So, yeah, it's supposed to do that.)

Why is there an asterisk by the first issue of Bendis' Man of Steel mini?

Um, may I ask why? Doomsday Clock is an okay series as far as I'm concerned.

    Thank you!

But, hey, I could still screw it all up in ASM #801. ;-)

Thought that 800 was your last issue. Guess I'm way out of the loop.
