I assumed the PTSD from most of those awful Wolverine movies were just blocked out of everyone's minds. (Logan was good though!)

The more I think back to the past of X-movies, the more I look forward to the future. I can't wait until we get actual Feige quotes/leaks on their intentions. I haven't been this excited since the original movie broke the mold and turned my childhood into a real movie.

And with that, my interest in X-Men movies is officially dead.

It's been a fun 18 years, but I've got no interest in one note X-Men movies that think colorful costumes and shinier displays of power can make up for superficiality and lack of substance.

    They've had a hell of a run..
The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-MEN with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.

I wasn't going to post about this subject again. But something happened. What happened? I finally watched The Greatest Showman.

    I know that sounds strange.

But here's the thing, this ridiculous, historically inaccurate, musical film manages to sell two themes even when they don't focus on them that much: self-acceptance and found family. Two major X-Men themes. And I know this is a little different, because The Greatest Showman has musical numbers and stuff (though, I would be up for an X-Men musical if anyone at Marvel is interested). But that's what I want in an X-Men movie. I want the personal, emotional punch associated with those highly personal X-Men themes (honestly, Singer's X-Men films often feel oddly sterile). I want to FEEL it. I want things to look dire for the team, on a personal as well as physical level and them to really pull together. I want them to have a big "This is Me" moment where they show the haters and doubters what heroes they are.

And you know who made this movie? Twentieth Century Fox. And when the stupid P.T. Barnum movie is able to sell these big X-Men themes better than X-Men can, you know there's a problem.

At this risk of alienating a segment of fandom's who hate things like this, but my wife and I are watching Equalizer 2 tomorrow so we're spending our Saturday on a Denzel Washington marathon. And man, I'm reminded of all the great characters he's portrayed and with that...a thought.

    Denzel Washington = Professor X

Watching the movie Fences really brought it home. Hell in that movie, he played both the perfect Xavier AND Magneto. There was so much material there and his character was fascinating.

So before the spears come, I get it...Xavier is white and Denzel is black, but let's pretend nobody cares. Would you support Denzel as the Professor?

I'm fine with it. I'm not sure if Denzel wants to do a superhero movie though.

You're still getting at least three more movies with FoX-verse.

So sad. I'm sure they won't miss your money.

I mean the house of the mouse is the studio that made Rogue One and literally killed the entire cast. Actually, I think everybody died in that film, and it was gritty and hard-hitting, and serious, and blah blah blah something about colors and costumes in a superhero film.

I love Morgan Freeman, but I just can't picture him as Magneto. Honestly, I just can't picture him as a bad guy in any shape or form(I know he played a villain in Wanted, and I didn't buy it). He's also 81.

I've never seen Fences but I did just re watch the first Equalizer. I honestly can't think of a Denzel role I didn't like. I'd be cool with him being Prof X or Mags but for me I think he would be a great Sebastian Shaw. He can pull off that swagger and has the presence/intimidation factor about him that I associate with Shaw. Kevin Bacon has it too and I loved his portrayal.
