Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and Punisher were all long-dead franchises by the time Marvel got them back (and they couldn't even be bothered to put them on the big screen, and banished them to the TV and Netflix Ghetto on top of that). And SONY chose to reboot Spider-Man after ASM2 underperformed (as pointed out already).
Any more strawmen you want to send up?
Another important question
How much is the MCU boost worth to X-MEN?
Highest FOXMEN is DoFP at 750?
I think it'll go
X1 - 900m
X2 - 1.1b
X3 - Who knows! :-)
Especially if they hit ppl on the head with the marketing
"THE X-MEN MOVIE YOU'VE WAITED YOUR ENTIRE LIFE FOR"
"This isn't your older brothers X-MEN!"
"Finally the X-MEN as you've always imagined!"
etc etc

The agreement also provides Disney with the opportunity to reunite the X-MEN with the Marvel family under one roof and create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories that audiences have shown they love. It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn't be two Marvels.
I think it's a silly notion to have a cast that DOESN'T include a school full of kids, with uniforms. It can be a new iteration of the Hogwarts merch potential, and Disney could have an entire Disney World Hotel shaped like the X-Mansion. Xaveir's School needs to be a magical place, with kids doing STEM studies. AND OF COURSE have the students play a baseball game.
I want MCU X-Men to feature Stefan Kapicic's Colossus.
I'm torn whether or not to include a human version of Colossus or just go full GCI metal form. I don't think you need to see a human version, and its absence MIGHT be good source for comedy.

I think a great X-Men film can easily break 2 billion. If they play their cards right, that is. Disenfranchised youth, fighting the powers that be(big business/big government), some dazzling super powers in full display, a found family of diverse kids from around the world. The sky is the limit!
Let the flames destroy all but that which is pure and true!
