Fans are defending characters and the universe they love from a horrid and detestable mess of a story. It blows my mind that Didio keeps his job when every single event he gets involved in is the same.......a shock value body count, with no story.

It's good to know that people care so much about the integrity of a fictional mass-murderer. She can turn the entire planet into mindless zombies subjugated to her and that's perfectly fine since she's a supervillain, but don't you dare objectify her, despite that she's been using her physical appearance to her advantage for the past 50 years. In any event, I'm interested to see what the "final" cover looks like.

The real-world power structures in society matters, so does the general tone or gaze of the depictions. I linked to a piece by G Willow Wilson on the way A Force was depicted earlier in the thread that gives a good introduction. It's not so much that women shouldn't be allowed to be sexually objectified in comics and other art, as that women are constantly objectified.

Anyway, Sinfest by Tatsuya Ishida gives a helpful metaphor.

Dude, think five minutes about this question and you'll arrive at the answer by yourself.

That said, people are making way too much of a fuss about this. A cover got changed. this happens almost monthly. It's not a censorship conspiracy.

Since the same cover is apparently being used in the catalogue, only more tastefully shaded, my guess is that this was indeed on the way to be the final cover for #7, but that someone who understood which PR disaster DC was heading towards here choose to leak it early. (I believe tako could tell a lot more, but I'm explicitly not asking him. DC needs their clueful employees.)

I just couldn't find anything redeemable in the first three issues I've read.
The premise as it was originally presented was interesting.
What I got pissed me off more than any book I've read in a LONG time.
I'm glad there's people out there reading & enjoying it, and maybe King will surprise me, pull a rabbit out of his hat and make this a cohesive interesting character study into super heroics in the DCU.
