With issue #9, the end game is now clear. I was unsure of this series for the first few issues, but kept reading because the art was gorgeous and I thought that King might be playing the long game with his story and I'm glad I stuck around to see how well this series has turned out.
Frankly, this is one of the best depictions of Kirby's Fourth World that I have ever read. Up there with Morrison's work and Johns' surprisingly strong depiction of them in Darkseid War.
The revelation that Darkseid has simply been waiting and stalling in order to take Scott & Barda's newborn son is so devious, I can't believe I didn't see it coming.
