Default Bleedingcool: The comics in Marvel 75th anniversary Omnibus

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/07/...rsary-omnibus/

Apparently the list of series that were chosen by fans for the 75th Omnibus that comes out this November has been released, and I have to say a lot of these are really good choices in my opinion. Here's the list:

Fantastic Four (1961) 1, 48-50 (Galactus), 285 (The Secret Wars II crossover, Hero, by John Byrne)

    Hulk (1962) 1

Avengers (1963) 1, 57 (first appearance of the Vision)

    Amazing Fantasy (1962) 15 (1st Spider-Man)

Amazing Spider-Man (1963) 31-33 (trapped Spider-Man), 50 (Spider-Man no more), 121-122 (death of Gwen Stacy), 248 (Roger Stern’s The Boy Who Collected Spider-Man), 700 (death of Peter Parker)

    Amazing Spider-Man (1999) 36 (9/11 issue)

    Incredible Hulk 181 (first Wolverine)

    Giant-Size X-Men 1 (revival of the X-Men)

    Uncanny X-Men (1963) 141, 142 (Days Of Future Past)

    Daredevil 181 (death of Elektra)

    The Death Of Captain Marvel

    God Loves, Man Kills

    Thor 337 (Beta Ray Bill)

Marvels 1 (by Busiek and Ross)

X-Men Alpha (Waid and Lobdell’s beginning of the Age Of Apocalypse)

    Thunderbolts (1997) 1

    The Ultimates (2002) 1

    Hawkeye (2012) 11 (Pizza dog!)

    Captain America Comics (1941) 1

Captain America (2005) 25 (Death of Captain America)

    All of them are great

except the 05 death of Cap...it's not any where near the league of the rest.

I would have put either the first or the last issue of Gruenwald's Hawkeye in instead of Fraction's Pizza Dog issue. It's a nice issue, but it's not important to the character in any way, and definitely isn't much out of context.

I love the Gruenwald mini...it holds a special place for me. But the Pizza Dog issue was truly experimental and innovative, and it's the newest issue on the list. So I think it's a better choice.

If they wanted to go for something that was central to the character then either Tales of Suspense 57 or Avengers 16 would probably make more sense.

Seeing that Ultimates 1 there just brings back good memories.

As far as I'm concerned, Marvel were at their best when they were experimenting in the early to mid-2000s. Bendis Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-man, Morrison's X-Men, Millar's Ultimates (which had the hard military complex and was steeped in post 9/11 paranoia really got me back into Avengers and HEAVILY influenced the Marvel cinematic universe), Vaughn's Runaways and Milligan's X-Statix were just great comics.

Yes, some of them failed (like Fightbolts) but Marvel were taking a lot more risks then and it was very interesting. IMO, it all ended with Civil War, the Dark Reign that came after was brilliant but once Marvel got back into the event cycle, they couldn't get out of it again.

It's a better range of choices than I thought would show up.

Sorry to bring this thread back up, and hopefully I'm reading this right, but according to Marvel.com it looks like there might be more to this omnibus.

Although I could just be reading it wrong.

i dont think you can fit 75 issues, that would be around 1500 pgs

and that would list at 125 dollars

over at Amazon, its listed at 99 dollars and 1000 pgs

i thinks that just a countdown thing they are doing for the website
