Do it like New 52 Aquaman. They got it right except some timeline issue with Forever Evil.
Continue to explore the other kingdoms and write that Rise of The Seven Seas.
Oh and less throne takeover. I think I've got enough of those.

Btw, I'm expecting Mister Miracle to get an award for best mini from either the Eisners or the Harveys this year, although Black Panther could give it a challenge with the Eisner.
And Saga isn't being nominated for an ongoing series Eisner this year.
Here are the Eisner nominees for 2017 material:
Best Continuing Series-
Black Hammer, by Jeff Lemire, Dean Ormston, and David Rubín (Dark Horse)
Giant Days, by John Allison, Max Sarin, and Liz Fleming (BOOM! Box)
Hawkeye, by Kelly Thompson, Leonardo Romero, and Mike Walsh (Marvel)
Monstress, by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda (Image)
The Wicked + The Divine, by Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie (Image) <- my guess
Best Limited Series-
Black Panther: World of Wakanda, by Roxane Gay, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Alitha E. Martinez (Marvel)
Extremity, by Daniel Warren Johnson (Image/Skybound)
The Flintstones, by Mark Russell, Steve Pugh, Rick Leonardi, and Scott Hanna (DC)
Mister Miracle, by Tom King and Mitch Gerads (DC) <- my guess
X-Men: Grand Design, by Ed Piskor (Marvel)

"There's magic in the sound of analog audio." - CNET.
I'd like to see Arthur actually governing. What are his platforms? How does he interact with everyday Atlantean society? I'd love seeing Mera and Arthur both dealing with "everyday" average Atlanteans.
I want much less of the Game of Thrones looking world, and a move towards a more socially advanced Atlantis with a holistic mixture of old world ruins and new age technology. Much more of a unique feel to the sea kingdom along with more thought put into the culture (clothing, diet, healthcare, education, social norms), and just the movement and existence of ocean dwelling humanoids.
Arthur actually creating policy and running a sovereign state apparatus while also adventuring/daring-do. Mera, Tula, Orm, Vulko, Garth, Murk (who can keep the hook but needs a little redesign), plus plenty of new characters.
Political intrigue of course would come with the territory for a superhero who is the head of state, but I'd try and steer clear of giant crown-seizing conflicts....for a while.

I'd like to see Aquaman as a typical superhero. I agree with the constant throne struggles. Sick of those. Shouldn't Atlantis (and Wakanda) be democracies by now anyway?
