The artwork is gorgeous, with Braithwaite's beautiful pencils covered by Ross' luscious painted work, and the story does work for me, after my initial shock wore off at how... hardcore they were taking the story. It wasn't what I was expecting story wise at all. It's a decent read though, if not a bit gimmicky by the end.

It's one of those ones I'll reread every few years and enjoy, so it must have done something right for me.
