Default Batman and Batfamily Solicitations for September 2018

    BATMAN: DAMNED #1
    written by BRIAN AZZARELLO
art and cover by LEE BERMEJO
    variant cover by JIM LEE
DC BLACK LABEL, the highly anticipated new imprint from DC Comics, starts here!
    The Joker is dead.
There is no doubt about that. But whether Batman finally snapped his scrawny neck or some other sinister force in Gotham City did the deed is still a mystery.
Problem is, Batman can’t remember…and the more he digs into this labyrinthian case, the more his mind starts to doubt everything he’s uncovering.
So who better to set him straight than…John Constantine? Problem with that is as much as John loves a good mystery, he loves messing with people’s heads even more. So with John’s “help,” the pair will delve into the sordid underbelly of Gotham as they race toward the mind-blowing truth of who murdered The Joker.
BATMAN: DAMNED is a bimonthly super-natural horror story told by two of comics’ greatest modern creators—a visceral thrill-ride that proudly puts the “black” in BLACK LABEL.

I'm more interested in Batman: Damned as a sign of what Black Label will look like, than for itself, sadly.

Batgirl - still no sign that Babs is going to tag in another Batgirl. I think she should, but it doesn't look like it to me.

Those are some pretty strange Batman and Catwoman solicits. No mention whatsoever of the wedding, which means - yep, it's still a secret, likely with more lies.

Weird - they don't mention that this is the final issue of Deathstroke v. Batman. Maybe they are extending it, because sales are pretty good (I checked - they only slipped 3,100 issues between issues 1 and 2, and it's still over twice what it was selling before the crossover arc.) But that is one cryptic solicit.

I already mentioned this on the Tec Speculation thread, but man. I'm beyond irritated by the "guest arc" by James Robinson. Ugh. Just put SOMEONE on it already, even if it's Tomasi, who would make me drop the book like a hot potato.

Really not happy that Nightwing's going twice a month again. I really hate what twice monthly does to art teams! And at this price point? Ugh.

Sadly, even Pete Woods can't get me on Red Hood regularly. But it'll be really cool to see what he does on art - a really great longtime artist!

I just noticed that they have finally brought Batman's trunks back. King is still awful, but at least this one good thing has come back.

Man, I really dislike the trunks. They look so silly and it shame they dropped his current look over it.

LEE BERMEJO being back is enough reason to make me pick the black label book. I have to say, that the non main books are still look promising and they definitely the reason that made me pick up dc again.

Batman wears a tight grey costume and a cowl with Bat ears. I think the idea that the trunks somehow makes him look "silly" when compared to what he wears without them is ridiculous.

I will take the bat ears since they serve a purpose over the silly trunks which only makes the characters look outdated.

The bat-ears still look silly and so does his tight grey spandex. Batman's whole costume is outdated. If he was a hero in the 21st century, he would probably wear military armour, he wouldn't leave part of his mouth exposed and he would probably wear black or dark blue not Grey. But the outdated look of the superhero is a part of the fun and is an iconic and recognisable part of the medium. Trunks are a part of that.

He called BATman and since he is character who is still popular after all these years, I can understand why they are keeping the bat ears while the trunks serve no purpose.

Good for you if you like them. I personally don't and think they should stay in the past instead of using them over a costume that was good (though, we might be jumping to conclusion and there's no change).
