I have been reading and enjoying this series. The ideas are fascinating and the art/story is very well executed. However, I find that I have the same problem with this story that I have with all of Millar's stories - the people he depicts are such atrocious human beings that I have a hard time feeling any real sympathy for them. I don't really care that much if they live or die. I think that is entirely intentional and a reflection of Millar's very dark vision of the world (I'd hate to meet him in person!) but it does create (for me) a certain kind of disengagement.
