Wow...so we get what Bendis is doing in the main books and Tom King writing Supes monthly for a year with this Walmart book.

Looks like i will be back to buying at least one physical book a month for the first time on a regular basis in awhile! Smart move on DC's part.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?

If they are, they'll face an angry mob of international fans as they haven't announced any digital or non-US release for these. Teen Titans also has the issue of it's roster probably being different. So I'm pretty sure that these are essentially Elseworlds.

Do you think they could be found in ASDA megastores in the UK? They're merged with Wal-Mart

A new national inventory platform with a King Kubert story to front it. It kinda makes too much sense, scary.

Combinations of old and new stories to draw in different generations of readers is smart.

Having kon-El on the cover is also AWESOME

A page from Up In The Sky:

Also, Palmiotti said his stories will be 12-pagers, so presumably that'll be the standard for the new stuff across the 'line'.

Yay, Lois and Clark interaction. Perfect given the frights everyone has over Bendis.

Let's just hope this is canon.

Does it have to be canon though? If a story is good, isn't that enough?

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."

In Seeley's own words, these aren't "continuity hounds". So no, they're not canon. Or at the very least won't not be able to do something just because of what's going on in the main books. We care a lot about that sort of thing, but the audience they're trying to reach here doesn't. At least not yet, heh. If the stories actually capture some people into the fold, who knows what they'll be like when metamorphosis into fanboy hits.

This is exactly the kind of mainstream exposure comic books need. If a kid can pick up an entire Superman story every time he or she accompanies his or her mom to Walmart he or she just might get into it enough to start seeking out more comics. You know? Like those one might find in a..........local comic book store?

Stuff like this and DCSHG is how you get future generations hooked on comics.

I also like the sound of this story. In my opinion, Superman would benefit from more stories in which his goal isn't something ridiculously huge, like "saving the world from alien warlords." For a being as powerful as Superman to use all his great power to try to save one precious life? Now THAT'S how you show people who Superman really is.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

It's interesting they use some of DC's big writers on what essentially amounts to filler stories
