Simple question about tpb

Hi, I have been a long time collector of comics. But sometimes for one reason or another I have stopped buying some issues of a series. But I have later bought the missing issues in paperback format. (because sometimes is hard to track down single issues or they have gone up a lot in price). So I usually put them between my comics, where the missing single issues would be.
But my question is this:
Do they count as part of the single issues?
I mean do I have 14 issues or 8 issues and 1 paperback? 🤔
