Default If you wrote comics: Red Ghost

Obviously the big bad communist thing isn’t quite as scary these days but I do think a great writer like grant Morrison or Hickman could do something amazing with red ghost and truly make him a compelling villain.

    So what would you do?

My take on him would be to a mad scientist type character but it needs more fine tuning.
"Excellent!" I cried. "Elementary," said he

There would have been a Red Ghost super-skrull in the last Skrull invasion, with the Red Ghosts intangibility powers, and the apes powers of magnetic/gravity control (it's unclear), super-strength and toughness, and, since Skrulls are already shapeshifters, a boost to the size-changing that comes with the shapechanging, so that the Skrull could turn into a spider-sized 'spider monkey' or a Kong sized super-ape. I think it would have been a nice way to remind readers that the Fantastic Four aren't the only foursome that got powers from cosmic rays. (Similarly, a Super-Skrull with the powers of the U-Foes could be funky.)

Once that seed was planted, having the Red Ghost now be a secretive mastermind behind Russias super-soldier initiative, and a liaison between the Winter Guard and the government (taking the role once played by the Gremlin, before Iron Man killed him), and perhaps being a sort of 'I wish Russia was back on top' sort of figure, who is hoping to reclaim some of the power (and territory) once held by the Soviet Union.

Or, to mix it up, he might be more of a people's patriot, and want to direct the team and it's resources against forces within Russia that he feels are betraying the principles of socialism/communism (worker before 'owner,' a world in which words like 'peasant' and 'aristocrat' have no meaning, etc.)...

Not every villain has to be over the top scary and intimidating. Sometimes they can just be fun. Red Ghost is fun. Honestly, his powerset makes him possibly one of the toughest foes to beat since he can't actually be harmed if he doesn't want to be most of the time. But, to me, that can just strengthen the argument that he works best in light, fun stories.

I’m really intrigued by the idea of making him a kind of twisted doctor zaius. I think that concept especially with that silver age feel the fantastic four have would be so much fun
