Looks like CBS may be creating some new Star Trek shows:

Which of these new shows would be looking forward to?

While I enjoyed Discovery for what is, I reeeeaaallllyyy want Trek to move forward again.

Make the next film/series set in the 24th or 25th centuries; don't let continuity cripple you, but don't act like the 21 seasons of television across 14 years didn't even happen.

The Starfleet academy concept has pretty much been going on for years-in fact, it was almost the sixth film (Paramount probably was a bit nervous about another original crew movie after V), and of course has been heavily featured in comics, novels, and games...and of course we got a bit of it in '09.

Patrick Stewart has hinted we might see Picard again....maybe have the next generation crew train or be mentors to an actual next generation? Considering the age of most of the actors at this point, that could work out the best.

Like the SA concept, Khan's been something that the various novels and comics have explored. Would it be a prequel, explaining the Eugenics wars (The novels sort of made Khan and his men sort of a "Behind the scenes" of actual 90's conflicts)? Or have the Benedict version of Khan be recast (it's implied his face was altered anyway) and cause havoc in the Kelvin timeline (after getting unfrozen?). Another possibility would be Ceti Alpha V I suppose (another thing used in the novels).

Yeah you would think most of the crew would have retired from Starfleet by now. (Longer lifespans not withstanding)

Funny thing is, everybody's pretty much at their "All good things" ages.

IDW Starfleet Academy series would make a great template for doing such a TV series, actually.

I'm bored with Starfleet TBH. I want a Star Trek Universe show, in the classic continuity, that has nothing to do with Starfleet or the military. Like a Trek version of Blake's 7 or Firefly.

    I can't handle a Teen Trek series.
I always thought a [mini]series about non-Starfleet people off exploring/colonizing would be cool. No cutting edge technology, no massive weapons compliments... Just people with a few runabouts, shuttles, and transport ships trying to survive in a new region when trouble pops up and they have to deal with it minus help from an Enterprise.
It's time to set a show post-VOY. Just have a ship with slipstream drive or some such be the only one to explore a relatively nearby galaxy/galactic cloud.

Not a lot of meat on that article's bones. What is there seems mainly a matter of strip-mining Trek's past and previously recommended projects.

I sometimes think SciFi needs new space opera ideas beyond Star Trek. The Expanse has taken a good run at that.

They would need to fix the broken timeline first... and maybe ditch JJ Abrams

Picard is going to make Admiral and then become the president of the federation. Then the Borg implants will kick in and take over the Federation and he will reconstruct Data from Borg Technology. Finally Wesley Crusher and Seven of Nine will kill Picard in a thrilling ending where 7-9 converts Data to the cause and Wesley and Picard end with a long good-bye..

    You heard it here first.

Patrick Stewart Confirms Return to Jean-Luc Picard Role

Engines at full, Patrick Stewart is returning to the role that made him an international superstar on Star Trek.

After months of speculation, Stewart confirmed through his Twitter account that he is indeed making it so and reprising his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. While the specifics of his return after still unknown, the project will air on the premium streaming service CBS All-Access with rumors of it being Star Trek: The Next Generation revival starring the veteran actor.

Stewart first portrayed Picard in the 1987 pilot episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and would play the character across the series’ seven seasons including a guest appearance in the 1994 pilot of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He would reprise the role for all The Next Generation theatrical films including 1994’s Star Trek: Generations, 1996’s Star Trek: First Contact, and 1998’s Star Trek: Insurrection, and 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis.

Captain on the bridge. Welcome back.

Speaking of Star Trek, it looks like they're having trouble signing Pine and Hemsworth for 4....which is kind of a problem since the plot of the movie was reportedly going to be Kirk somehow teaming up with his father (an excuse of course to cash in on Hemsworth of course).
