Default How do you Become an X-Man????

Honestly, what are the stages of becoming an actually X-Man?
    Do you Graduate?
Do you have to Join an actual Team?
Does someone or founding member make you a X-Man?
and once you become one WHO has the authority to tell you a "Mutant" you are NOT an X-man anymore.
The reason I ask is because in one of the recent X-Men titles spoilers:
Kitty OWNS the right of the X-Men name and told Havok is not an X-Man anymore.
    end of spoilers

HOW does that happen? Can anyone care to explain???

Well, then I'd say you're an X-Men when Kitty says you are.

Or when you get attacked by sentinels. That automatically makes you a member.

Pursuing Xavier's dream of a future of coexistence between humans and mutants is generally what makes you an X-Men, you're not an X-Men yet when you are training to be one which makes things muddy when young mutants go in and out of the school setting. And then Kitty got put in charge.

If that is the case then the Mutants that are in school should be X-Men by now or at least graduated.

They indeed should be, but you gotta fill out that student body somehow. So post-2000 young characters get reset time and again.

Exactly. It sounds like there are multiple ways to becoming an X-men. Not because one person says You can or you can't.

It used to be. If Xavier had patented the X-Men name before, he never presumed to use those rights against his students. But now Kitty has legal ownership of the concept and is willing to throw her weight around with it.

Xavier used to use children as x-soldiers. So Xavier was not an X-Man.

There are very few X-Men by that logic. In fact we might not have any.
