    Default Shatterstar solo series announced

    !!
Written by Tim Seeley, art by Carlos Villa

What was Seeley’s pitch for this new book? “When the life he built crumbles, Shatterstar is forced to ask himself if he truly ever gave up the gladiator ring. The series will be part John Wick, a dash of Will Eisner’s A Contract with God, and infused with lots of lots of interdimensional X-Men Super Hero mythos.” Speaking specifically about that X-Men lore, Seeley says he was inspired by classic ’80s and ’90s X-Men stories: “I really stuck close to the Fabian Nicieza, Rob Liefeld stuff—especially those last few issues of NEW MUTANTS where you can see the purest form of this guy. I also really leaned on the LONGSHOT limited series by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams, as well as the ‘Shattershot’ storyline from the old X-Men annuals.”

Unlike with Iceman, Marvel was actually nice enough to mention this is a mini this time.

Wow, really? Didn't think he had a base, but hey, give him a good writer and goodness sake good art and maybe it could something interesting. If Si Spurrier can turn Legion into a real character even with Huat's art, anyone can.

Realistically speaking about fictional matters. | Nutcases need not respond. | Stay outta my DMs. | Why does the "House of Ideas" keep duplicating characters?! | If an idea or belief cannot stand up to criticism it's probably... bad.

Hmm. Iffy. I've got no beef with Seely or Villa, but invoking Liefeld - especially after his reaction to 'Star's relationship with Ric - doesn't get a positive reaction. I'll wait for more info.

I'll wait and see if I pick this up but I think it's great to give some of the less prominent characters minis. Hope they make these a regular thing.

Wow, this is - unexpected. I'll buy it, of course, he's one of my top five X-characters, but I'm really surprised Marvel would decide to do this.

If Rictor is in it and they acknowledge they were together... then and only then am I in.
I was trying to do too much and not doing any of it as well as I could. But I've had a change of mind... though not everyone shall enjoy it. I will.

    Love it! I'm in.

Hoping "when the life he build crumbles..." doesn't mean they'll kill Rictor though.

Yeah, definitely can't fault the writer's enthusiasm.

Interesting. I didn't expect the X-line to give a solo to a character like him.
That's definitely worth a try, and Seeley's pitch sounds good.
