Here I am just celebrating England's World Cup Quarter Final win and then I see this ......
....
Steve Ditko, along with Lee & Kirby had an impact on the medium of comics that we will never see again.
I don't know what to say, he was a true artist and visionary and his alignment with Ayn Rand's Objectivism and rejection of fame made his legend all the more unique. More than anything he was a man of principle which you rarely see these days.
.....
R.I.P. Steve Ditko
This man was essential in the creation of my favorite superhero, RIP Mr.Ditko I am forever grateful to your contributions.

Nuff' Said!!!
What a day...England to the semis of the World Cup, but then this...
Been a Spidey fan forever, set as a boy because of Stan's take that superheroes should still be like "the man in the street" with some ordinary problems, but visualised magnificently by Steve Ditko's truly weird and wonderful artwork...what an effect it had! As mentioned issue 33 was a masterpiece, unforgettable story/theme and revolutionary artwork!
RIP Steve Ditko

A true legend. I wish I had the chance to meet him but never did. Peace to his family

RIP Steve...you were one of the greatest
R.I.P Steve Ditko, one of the best artists of his generation and a rightful legend in the world of comics.
May he Rest In Peace.
He was a rare genius, a visionary illustrator whose quirky style initially put me off, yet couldn't get enough of it later. He was also an underrated plotter whose long-term storylines on Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Shade the Changing Man never failed to make me want to read the next issue. I've also read thet he was responsible for other things like the Hulk's transformations being triggered by Banner's anger and that he created the Leader.
As far as Spider-Man is concerned, apart from cocreating one of the biggest pop culture icons of our times, his original run with Stan Lee are some of the finest and most innovative american comics ever published.
Wow. Truly sad news. I hope the next Spider-Man and Dr. Strange movies will give him a fitting send-off.

ASM 12 is the one I'd pick. Spider-Man unmasked by Doc Ock
