I have to say I LOVED Waid's portrait of Barry in JLA Year One. While the Flash has always been a favorite of mine, I always did find him a bit dull Pre=COIE. I hated Wally under Baron, but soon fell in love with the character once Messener-Loeb took him over, and Waid just cemented that. His portrait of Barry in JLA Year One also cemented my love for Barry.

    Peace

I have to say, I'm surprised how high Waid is rating considering how little he wrote of Barry (especially compared to most on the list!)

I'll try being nicer if you try being smarter.

It's more than you might think at first: he wrote THE LIFE STORY OF THE FLASH, which is the definitive book on Barry Allen's life and career. There were also twelve issues of JLA: YEAR ONE, around seven issues of FLASH/GREEN LANTERN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD, and frequent guest appearances in Wally's FLASH title throughout the 1990s.

John Broome Is the best and most important Flash writer by a large margin. It's really a shame more people aren't exposed to him nowadays.

I voted for Darwyn since I really liked his Barry in New Frontier.

Cary Bates. I just finished purchasing the complete run from 300-350, and now I have an uninterrupted run from 270–til the end.

It's ironic too, as many consider COIE # 8 to be Barry's finest hour.

Mark Waid (Post-COIE), followed closely by Cary Bates (Bronze Age), then by John Broome/Robert Kanigher (Silver Age), IMO.

If we look at Barry's history, gotta be Cary Bates. However, if we shift slightly to "best Barry has ever been written", I gotta go with Morrison.

My vote went to Cary Bates (Bronze Age). You can't beat childhood memories, sadly. (T^T)
